This guy isn't even on the Mali national team anymore.
Not really. He was poor against Porto, had Xavi burden with more defensive duties and drop deeper to receive the ball, the maestro couldn't perform to his best.
His sec game didn't have much for him to defend, in that Villarreal's MF showed no adventure going forward and when they did, he got enough support from our central unit.
But when he's put under pressure, he cracks. Something you don't want to see from your DM. After RS capitalised on our errors, he lost both composure and discipline(not that he has much of it anyway) He does an awful job covering our defense and in circumstances when all our creative players are pushing forward in search of the winner, his deficiencies as a DM become more apparent.

Keita isn't much of a DM against the formation RS played with. He simply can't cover that much, he most definitely can't play a quick pass when needed. It doesn't come as a surprise that he's not a thinker, but jesus - the way he was dancing around with the ball at his feet while thinking whom to pass during the second half just made it clearer.
Masch should have been playing as a CB, and Busi should've been as a DM.
