I am not defending Bartomeu here but look at the candidates we have right now, none of them stands out as capable and competent.

The reason Bartomeu and the board haven't decided to resign is because they have not received an official verdict from the Generalitat de Catalunya on whether the motion can proceed or not. The board's fate depends on the Generalitat's decision.
