By the way Pep wanted Neymar before Gotze was signed and they would have known the costs involved in doing so.
rosell seems to have thought so to give him the house and the farm to get him with one year left on his contract.

The fact he had one year left on his contract has nothing to do with it.

Sometimes that can drive down a price but not when all the big clubs in the world are after a player and offering more money.

You still seem to think that the 86m is the transfer fee to be compared to other transfers. Which is not the case.

Paying that much covering everything is a good deal. Just wait and see.

Bartomeu should calm things down. The president should not be the story. No one wants to write about an engineer.

I am learning that the biggest threat to FC Barca is not Real Madrid. It is the insane, destructive Barca "fans". They are a minority, but they do have outsized destructive power. I really don't understand why this wonderful team attracts so many of them, these are abnormally negative people.

Its very easy, the only people who the Club is accountable to are the Club's members. As a member, you have the power to drag the Club to court.

It's easy to blame Cases but that's why this club is the club that it is, members have a right to transparency and only at a club like Barcelona could/should we see things like this...The rest is all from the capital for the usual reasons, Barcelona hegemony that is impossible to bear

Liked Bartomeu's interview with RAC1, seems to have a feel for this already
Paolo Maldini - "In my opinion, Messi should win the Ballon D'Or each year. He's an unbelievable player."

Well, bringing all supporters together is what the president and next president should try to do. Bartomeu has made common cause with Neymar and family getting agreement to break the confidentiality clause to let all the details of the agreement be known. He has promised to pay Messi more than any other player. He has expressed the desire for Tata to stay through at least the 2015-16 season. Now he is expressing his support for Pep becoming part of the club again someday (Pep does work for the competition now, he won't come back for many years). He will be saying good things about the other key players soon.

If there is an extended period of continuing turmoil in the executive suite, key players could start jumping ship. Keeping the big stars for extended periods has been one of the keys to recent Barca success. Barca has lost pretty much no player they really wanted to keep in recent years. Valdes will be the first in quite a while. Good players have left, sure, but the team was kind of pushing every one of them out.

He needs to start buying some quality players. The squad needs an overhaul and if Barca win nothing Bartomeu's position will be in jeopardy. Look for Laporta to come back and win elections.

The Espai Barça is economically viable says Bartomeu

    02/10/2014 19:50

The president explains that members have shown him support for the creation of the new Espai Barça and they have also expressed concern over how the project will be financed

During the press conference following the Board of Directors meeting, President Josep Maria Bartomeu talked about the future of the Espai Barça project and the Club’s aspirations for the football and basketball teams.

Firstly, Bartomeu said that many Club members expressed their “support for the creation of the Espai Barça.” At the same time he admitted that he’s noticed “the concern over how this strategic project will be funded.” He was clear that “the Espai Barça is economically viable and absolutely necessary.”

According to the president, “the Espai Barça is an ambitious project.” He reiterated that “it’s a Club project, not the Board of Directors’. Anyone in our position would do this, I’d even venture to say that we’re a bit late in starting the process.”

In addition, the president talked about the Club’s investment in the Sant Joan Despí (30 million) and the Les Corts area (20 million) in the three and a half years the current Board has been in power. He also specified the maintenance and repair costs for the Camp Nou cost 7 million during the Board’s tenure and he estimated that 56 million more would be needed through 2021.

    It’s time for the fans

Bartomeu then talked about attendance at the Camp Nou and he sent a message to the fans ahead of the final stretch of the season: “This is the moment to accompany the team. We have a very good team and we are ambitious.” He added: “We’re La Liga leaders – recovering the top spot is a morale boost for us.”

The president also talked about the basketball team, who were finalists in the Copa del Rey. “I congratulate them for their brilliant run in the Cup and their positive progression in form.”

Finally, Bartomeu talked about the action of responsibility that weighs on the previous administration: “I will take it to the Board before the end of the season. They have asked us to withdraw our case and I want to discuss our options.”

    Contact with Johan Cruyff

President Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed that he has contacted individuals close to Johan Cruyff in order to address the relationship with the former player and manager. “Cruyff is a distinguished person in our Club. I believe that things will normalise,” he said.

Restructuring of the Board of Directors

Manel Arroyo becomes the fifth vice-president, he's now responsible for Media and Communications

Silvio Elías is the new director of Barça B and Juvenil A, Ramon Cierco will take charge of youth football, and Josep Ramon Vidal-Abarca is the new director of the roller hockey team

The Board of Directors have approved a restructuring of the Board that gives certain directors new responsibilities. President Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed the changes during a press conference held this Monday afternoon: “These changes are borne our of necessity to renew our energy and to increase the services that the directors employ for the Club.”

One of the biggest changes is the creation of the fifth vice-president position, which will be held by Manel Arroyo. The new vice-president will be responsible for the Club’s Media and Communications. The creation of the post “is a commitment to communication, which is fundamental to us,” said Bartomeu. The president also announced that the position of spokesperson, which up until now was held by Toni Freixa, will no longer figure on the Board. From now on, Manel Arroyo will decide who will speak to the press after every Board meeting.

    Additional changes

The naming of Jordi Mestre to the position of vice-president means that two directors will now have responsibilities tied to the Club’s youth academy. Silvio Elías will now oversee Barça B and Juvenil A, while Ramon Cierco – who up until now was charged with the responsibility of overseeing the roller hockey team – will be the new director of youth football.

Josep Ramon Vidal-Abarca will continue to be the Security Director, in addition to overseeing the roller hockey team. While Pilar Guinovart, director of the Social Area, will be responsible for the OAE, trips and amateur sports – which will now fall under the jurisdiction of the Social Area seeing that the majority of athletes in these teams are Club members.

Toni Freixa will continue being the Board’s secretary in addition to presiding over the Discipline Committee. Javier Bordas, in addition to being the director of futsal and FC Barcelona’s representative to the RFEF, becomes responsible for relationships with national football federations that professionals belong to at the Club. Finally Eduard Coll becomes the vice-president and secretary of the FC Barcelona Foundation in addition to being the director of the handball team.

The part I highlighted in yellow, could be because Freixa posted that tweet about the team playing badly in the cdr match... He lost his spokeperson position.
