I understand that but aren't board members appointed by the president? If Bartomeu goes and especially from losing an election, wouldn't all the board members leave with him? The new president will appoint the new board members, no?

The only explanation for Cardoner and Rousaud doing this would be building up Rousaud's candidacy for the 2021 election.

That's precisely what they're doing or would want in a situation like this. Distance themselves from the controversy surrounding the club.

No.

Board members aren't appointed by the President. Every board member must be voted into position.

A running candidate can select an individual to be his VPs but at the end of the day they must get elected through the electoral process to gain achieve their position.

In the case of Rousaud, who was recently appointed, any board member (not just Barto) can put a nomination forward for a position and through a board voting process that individual can be voted into a board position. this is what happened with Rousaud

This is how it works, no president can dictate the board of directors. It defeats the purpose of having a board of directors. If this was the case, Barto could just fire both Cardoner and Rousaud tomorrow and be free of it all, but he doesn't have the power to do so.

Are you sure about this? Where did you get this information from by the way?

Who elects the board members? The General Assembly of the socis?

100% sure and I know this information because I'm on a board of directors, dawg.

Yes Socis elect them. for example when Barto ran in 2015 he nominated Cardoner as an VP as well as the other roles for the other board members. They were all elected when Barto won the election and operate within those roles. but Barto cannot appoint new board members or fire current board members. It has to go to a nomination and voting process. ALWAYS.

The Board of Directors consist of people Bartomeu chose when he won the elections in 2015, he ran with them. Their term run concurrently with the President.

Bartomeu cannot fire anyone. Has to be voted by the Board.

Why would people in the Board go against Bartomeu? To save their own ass or protect their own interests.

If Font becomes president this summer, I hope he would still keep Setien so that Setien can further implement his style of play and getting rid of the players not suited to the philosophy, so that the transition from Setien to Xavi would be a lot easier.

Slim chances of that. Aren't Font and Xavi a duo or something? Chances are if Font is elected President, Xavi will be named manager very fast.

I would personally keep Setien more. But Font & Xavi works for me too.

Yes he can nominate people to run under him for positions, but he cannot appoint people to those positions by himself.

Point being barto can NOMINATE an individual to be elected as a VP of the Board, but he cannot APPOINT an individual directly as VP of the Board.

Obviously, but once you run with those people in the elections there's a clear understanding who's getting in or not. Most of the people he ran with in 2015 are a part of the Board of Directors. The few people that resigned later were filled in through Bartomeu or other board members nominating them and taking a vote on it.

Rousaud was nominated as their next candidate by Cardoner who didn't want to run himself.

Laporta and Benedito can always cock it up for Font leaving it to be a four-way race with this board's candidate winning.

Laporta and Benedito should support Font who clearly would have the most support and has been building up an actual program instead of going YOLO like Laporta or lying about some imaginary energy drink sponsor like Benedito.

Nah, doubt it. Bartomeu won on the back of a treble win and Barca looking super-dominating in Europe. Now current board's candidate will have nothing to show for, a trophy-less season most likely and a team in disarray. Which is their doing basically.

Emili Rousaud who will likely have the support of Mundo Deportivo.

Let's wait and see if they actually call for early elections. A lot can happen until Thursday next week.

Not enough. Mundo Deportivo will do what? Pretend a trophy-less season is great? That their transfers were great? That the money from Neymar were spent well? That we didn't become an embarrassment in Europe time and time again under this board?

Font has so much free ammo to use against this current board that if he doesn't win he's an idiot.

Well you never know with the club members. In 2015 most of the members between the age of 18-30 voted for Laporta, but 30 and over were overwhelmingly in favour of Bartomeu.
