First Game at Nou Camp next Year.

Hi guys, I am looking into going to my first game at the nou camp next year just wanted to ask some questions really. Any responses greatly appreciated.

1.Disappointing that there is no flights back after the games, where is the safest place to stay? I've heard of Pickpockets etc, I just want somewhere quiet where you can go and drink in bars on the seafront at night.

2.Is the metro system easy to understand if your English and don't speak Spanish like myself? Is it easy to get away from the nou camp after games and how long would it take?

3.Thomas Cook packages don't seem to indicate any coach transfers back to hotels after game. Is there no company out there who offers you an hotel and a coach transfer away from nou camp after matches back to your hotel?

1. A hotel :lol: Pickpockets happen all over the world in big cities. If you are not an idiot you'll be fine. Any hotel near Plaça Catalunya/La Rambla is close to the sea.

2. It's very easy as the metro systems are mostly alike everywhere. As long as you know where you want to go you shouldn't have a problem.
Depends on where you want to go. From Camp Nou to Plaça Catalunya takes around 15 minutes I think. Maybe a bit longer, I don't really pay attention :p

3. I don't know why you would want to do that. A metro ticket costs like 2 euro and if you buy your ticket beforehand you won't even have to wait in line after the game. Those packages are way too expensive for something you can arrange in less than 3 minutes yourself :p

Metro is easy and safe, I get the impression you don't do much traveling...Barcelona couldn't be much simpler to get around...Cabs will not be terribly expensive but they will be hard to come by after a match...Post match atmosphere around the Camp Nou, walking around or to the metro is nice - should be experienced, IMO

I do mate go London alot aswell use tube too is the metro in English language or just Spanish? Is it like tube in London different lines etc or more like trams?

And how much do you think it would cost me for flights ticket and hotel
Thomas cook packages are £199 with hotel and tickets but no flights

Firstly, Barcelona-like many Iberian cities-is safe. Yes there are pickpockets and small time thieves, probably much more evident than in the UK, but what there is a lack of is the threat of any physical violence. Because of the culture where people go out for dinner regularly after 2200, and stay out socialising very late compared with the rest of Europe, there is a lack of the threatening (and real) drunken violence you get in the UK, for instance.
What you do regarding getting there and where you stay is your decision, however I always fly into El Prat with EasyJet, then get the aerobus to Placa Catalunya, I think it costs about 5 euros, but even if you are to get a taxi into the city centre it isn't more than about 25 euros.
As for accommodation, central hotels can be expensive but there are much cheaper hostals, or alternatively why not book an apartment for a couple of days.

Catalan mostly but I assume all information is available in English as well.
This is the map:

Every line has a different colour so it's really simple.

A lot depends on which hotel and what time of year it is. Closer to the summer means more expensive of course & during holidays it's obviously also more expensive. If you look around on the internet it's fairly easy to book a cheap hotel though.
Same for flights.. it all depends on which day you wanna fly but you should be able to find a flight for around 150 euros.

can't see airport or ground on there, can see catalunya though for hotel though near beach on green line.

Getting around Barcelona is so easy, most places of interest are easy to get to on the metro also. Last time I went I stayed in plaza de espana area, metro is close by and was easy to get to camp nou. From that map posted above to get to camp nou from espana is to take green line from espana and get off at les corts or Maria Cristina.

What about if I stay in catalunya mate? I want to drink in day and late at night on seafront in bars. Would I need green there from nou camp and green line again to get back there from nou camp after?

And what about from airport to hotel and hotel to airport on way back?

Don't know about the airport one but from Catalunya to Camp Nou is indeed the green one until Palau Reial.

How about using google maps or similar offers? They show you all you need. As a short answer, you need to walk a couple minutes from the stadium to either Collblanc or Badal on L5 or Les Corts on L3, IIRC. These names give you an idea where the stadium is anyway. There's also the tram on Avenue Diagonal you can use. As for the airport it is not connected to the metro directly but you need to take a suburban train or, as already mentioned, the bus. The RENFE R2 Nord line calls at Passeig de Gracia, among others, which immediately connects you to the metro.

Besides, I don't speak either Spanish or Catalan and have done this trip a couple times with no problem at all. You might want to look at wikitravel.org for some more details, too.

Thanks for this. It seems pretty simple, I plan on going with my father some day hopefully I'm gonna save this thread just incase.
