Jerome Boateng

Has been outstanding for club, always has had the potential to become a WC CB/Full since his Hamburg days, but he still at times seems prone to the odd brain fart here and there (the weekends goal was a prime example)

Boateng has really stepped up since he first came to Bayern and was seen more of a liability in the back. Hopefully him and Badstuber(if he is healthy) can be Bayern and Germany's CBs for long time.

2015 now, and i think we can pretty much say that Boateng is a worldwide top 3 defender.

Fixed that for you. There is no one else with his combination of size, speed, versatility (can play all defensive positions if needed and has no problems with 3 or 4 man defense), defensive abilities, and quality going forward (his direct passing forward is sublime).

The guy has dominated a CL final and a WC final already.

Bayern has by far the best defensive record in the top European leagues, despite Bundesliga being high scoring and Pep's suicidal high line, and that is mostly down to Boateng and Neuer.

Hummels or Boateng?

Boateng > Hummels for sure

Even if Hummels gets back to his best he has no case over Boateng.

The Boateng of right now is already the best German center back since Kohler, IMO, and he is only 26.

If it weren't for his occasional mega-blunder every now and then (although those seem to get rarer and rarer), Boateng would already be best CB by far.

Kohler wasn't even close when it came to opening passes and long balls, let alone speed.

Hehe. Saw your username and thought...Why not have a little test :pep:

How much does Pep come into the picture of Boateng's development into such a beast?

A lot. He was a very good but error prone defender under Heynckes, but has now transformed into the CB with probably the best gameplay opening ability around.

Hummels or Boateng?

Boateng is basically an improved, fast, black, inform Hummels with better tackling, equal passing but a bit lesser heading.
Also Less injury prone, less error prone and overall just in much better shape. Even if Hummels would be in his best form, i think Boateng would have the edge because he is unreal with Benatia next to him and Neuer behind him at the moment.

Sorry, but that basically makes him a completely different player
