New rules established for 2013-14 Liga season

Several new rules will be enforced by Liga referees during the 2013-14 season. La Liga will finally come to its senses about how to punish players for involuntary contact between ball and hand. These handballs will no longer result in automatic yellow cards; in fact, if the contact does not benefit the offending team, there will no foul called at all. If the handball results in a loss of possession, or to a distinct advantage, it will still be considered a foul.

Some modifications to the offside rule will also be in place. Opposing players who obscure the view of the keeper will be considered to be active in the play, and therefore offside even if they make no contact with the ball. Opposing players who receive a mis-kicked ball will also not be considered offsides.

Finally, referees have been asked to dish out more severe sanctions for dangerous plays and tackles. Players who make contact above the neck with extended arms will receive automatic yellow cards, and those who make contact with their elbows will be ejected.

Some players will have a hard time, if refs stick to that rule...

Ramos will be suspended all season then.
Lol I'm afraid so. He's a good defender, but tends top get a bit too physical.
But the other rules are really good. The handball rule in La Liga is ridiculous, thank god they're changing that.

The question is, will the referees actually enforce those new rules throughout the season? Remains to be seen...

If the association is serious then they'll have too. Not following policy of ref associations is career suicide for a ref. missing one big rule one time can knock you down the pecking order depending on what it is.

Almeria forward Rodri, on loan from Barcelona B, scores his 3rd goal this season and is at this moment topscorer in the Liga.

Suso has been absolutely brilliant these first two matches.

The beginning of the season bodes well for Spanish youngsters: Isco, Muniain, Suso, Pardo, etc. have all gotten off to great starts, hopefully this continues.

What's up with Athletic's venue? Surely that can't be the new stadium (with those running tracks)? I got the commentary on only for Dortmund's match now, thus missed any explanations there might have been.

Edit. So Anoeta then. Should've let Bielsa take care of the construction men.
