There's a big chance that I am in Valencia on September 1st, would be great to watch the game live.

This article shows yet again the moronic decisions of the Spanish government that hinders the expansion of La Liga. Sheikh Thani, the owner of Malaga had bought the club with an ambitious plan to build a sports city around Malaga's new stadium at its center. He had expected that he would bring multitudes of tourist and also build hotels. But due to the noncooperation of the government he faced a lot of difficulties in getting necessary permits for different buildings and establishments. As his ambitious plan ran into trouble he has stopped funding the club altogether and now wants to sell it. Al Thani's cousin, who is the current owner of PSG wanted to buy Malaga from his brother but all this difficulties thwarted that option as well. Now probably, Rezart Taci, who is an oil tycoon of Albania might buy the club. Taci is the owner of Bologna as well. Due to the unbelievably poor management from La Liga authorities and the sheer stupidity of Spanish government La Liga is and will be just a 2 horse race, with other potential clubs never reaching their maximum growth.

Negredo, Aspas, Navas, Falcao, Soldado and Llorente

La Liga loses its star strikers
Fran Villalobos 08/01/2013

La Liga has lost another of its top players with the departure of Soldado. The Valencia striker ended last season on 24 goals, a figure which has not gone unnoticed by Tottenham. The fifth-highest goalscorer in La Liga is packing his bags. The third and fourth already left before him.

The formula is a simple one and has been repeating itself all summer. A foreign club with buoyant finances puts in an offer to the Spanish side in question, which is generally in need of cash to balance the books and is forced to sell its star. Falcao left Atlético de Madrid to move to Monaco for €45 million.

Sevilla cashed in twice with Manchester City, first selling Navas and then Negredo for €25 million apiece – a total of €50 million. The English club almost ended up bringing in Isco, who Málaga urgently needed to sell. The player ended up at Real Madrid in exchange for almost €30 million. Real and Barça are the only Spanish clubs which can match the sums paid out by the foreign clubs.

The case of Llorente was different, who moved from Athletic to Juventus on a free transfer after spending almost an entire season in the wilderness because he refused to renew his contract last summer. In a heartbeat, three of the strikers who have formed part of Vicente del Bosque's plans have recently left Spain.

Iago Aspas has also emigrated, leaving Celta without its best player but with an extra €9 million in its coffers, after the deal struck with Liverpool.

I would say Atletico, Sevilla and Celta will all be stronger this season despite those players going.

Sevilla in particular have had a great transfer window.

Even Valencia will replace Soldado with Jonas and will not be a massive drop in quality at CF. Soldado was over priced at 30m.

Come on guys! what's new in La Liga? it's always gonna be a two-horse race. Does it matter much who leaves?

This season La Liga was the most competitive it's been since Pep came. It doesn't seem that way because of Barca having a record first half but the rest of the league was more balanced. Here's the points for the teams finishing 2-5 for these last 6 seasons.
2012: 207
2011: 175
2010: 191
2009: 196
2008: 202
2007:195

Atletico getting 76 points was the best 3rd place finish by five points. Shame Atletico lost Falcao, although I think Villa could get a strong return for them. Hopefully the clubs outside the big two continue to improvise successfully.

Players leaving makes room for young new talents. I don't see the problem, one of the strength's and beauty of La Liga is the fact that so many local youngsters get their chance. That barely happens in England.
