That is because of our style of play. We play with a very high line and with Alves and Alba pushing up. This means we are very open to the quick counter with the ball over the top, that is why you see Pique running back all the time. That does not mean he is a sweeper type defender. If anything he dives in too much.

He dives in when he gets outpaced and that leads to stupid penalties. Otherwise he's the one positioning himself as he runs back while Puyol applies pressure and tackles.

Also, Puyol is a stopper styled defender so it doesn't have to do with our style of play necessarily.
