you are not mistaken ,Raed. This was a mutual plan as soon as Saddam was down. persians had hated Saddam's Iraq with a passion since the 8 years war, started by him, but the way of speaking about Iraq has hugely changed after Saddam went downhill. they are called brothers now, and it would never get near such words when Saddam was in power. US had a plan about Iran when they attacked Iraq. actually Saddam wasn't even the least of their concerns, and Iran tried to change things in it's own favor from day one, knowing that US could not have a long lasting effect on Iraq (after having occupied Afghanistan, previously). The war in Iraq plan kinda back fired imo. because it ended in Iran's favor in way by making the two countries closer by removing the one of main sources of separation between the two countries in Saddam Hussain. apart from the governments, the people could also get closer, based on both having considerable percent of Shea people and several of shea Imams shrine being in various cities of Iraq.
Did you read what the link I posted from the Dubai Chief Police? Basically one of the top men in the UAE responsible for security said some bold statements towards the US. If you didn't, please check it out, it is a very interesting read and a new tone from the UAE, basically rebellious by their standards towards the west. It confirms what I said, confirms what you say too.

Iran keeps Israel at bay by supporting our Arab allies, so no it is a wrong assumption to make that Persians get angry if Iran support Hizbollah or Syria because the hate Israel more. And on a more personal note, I didn't like the Arabs are not worth it part at all, dude. I as a persion person,I don't think that way and know that huge percent of persians agree with me. apart form our differences, we are muslims, and muslims are worth it.
The Iran and the persian gulf states division has a very strong root in Iran/ Saudi Arabia relations which is not nice at all.

and Raed, Gulf states don't spend their money on shitty American deals to protect themselves from Iran, as Iran doesn't plan on attacking any country. Persian people will never back up a government who starts attacks with no reason and attacking Gulf countries have no logical reasons. both parties know this pretty well and they know that a war will not happen between Iran/Arab world. they buy because US asks them to, like usa used to ask, better say, order Shah of Iran to buy all sorts of military equipments. and they get paid back for it through other channels. it's not all loss for them. US want to be closest to Persian Gulf as possible, and those countries are convenient channels.
What I said was what a Persian guy told my dad. He told him you may see a lot of Persians angry with their president because they see him fund Arab countries like Syria and the Palestinians but what does Iran get in return? Aren't the people of Iran more deserving of this money? If you set Islam aside, and Iran makes truce with the US and Israel, wouldn't that ease the tension? What has the Arab world given Iran back? The Gulf governments until now cannot approach Iran properly and make truce with them, yet Iran is helping out Arabic countries while Arab countries themselves are funding chaos. See the logic here?

There are a lot of people like you and I appreciate that as an Arab myself, but I also sense (I hope I am wrong) that there is a large portion of Iranians who do not share your warm sentiments, part of it because they have removed themselves far from religion, and have come to detest Isalm. I cannot speak on your behalf but this is what this man told my dad, not that this man said it as if this was his personal opinion, but based on what his acquaintances might have said. This is the way he explained it to my dad.

Iran is doing the work Arabs should be doing and Iran should be there for support, as an ally. But when you have a whole portion of the Middle East, the wealthiest part of it (ie the strongest part of it), stand against you against a common enemy, wouldn't that drive you nuts? I am Sunni by birth, and I am an Arab as well and what I am saying is that it drives me insane when I see my representatives, my leaders, distant themselves from Iran because they are Shiites. Not only that, but some Shiekhs go as far as preaching against Shiites and label them as infidels. The sad thing is, while I don't agree with some of the Shiites beliefs, I don't understand how, not only governments, many Sunni people can look down on Shiites by believing so much bullshit. The opposite also is true. Not everyone is like this, because there are people like me and you, but sadly, there is a massive portion of the people like this. I know people who would drop unconscious if you say word 'Shiite' 3 times to them and would speak of Iran as if they were the enemy, when Iran has saved them from being part of a greater Israel, a country they consider the ultimate enemy. It just doesn't make any sense to me here.

In short, I am not saying that in principle 1. Iran is not worth the Arab support or 2. the Arabs are not worth Iran's support. What I am saying is that there are many reasons as to why Iran could/would be forced to drop their support for the Arabs.

Like I said, I think it is the sorriest thing in the Middle East right now that the entire Arab world and Iran couldn't come to a full agreement, worse yet are setting themselves more distant.

I trust Iran not to want to attack the Gulf states, I mean they wouldn't want to. I know they don't want to and the biggest proof is that they still haven't. But I am not sure how much longer would Iran continue to be patient with the Gulf. I mean UAE has changed their tone (read the link, and read between the lines), instead of provoking Iran like other countries in the GCC, they are blaming the US for pushing the tension this high in the Middle East. But UAE is not enough, you need Saudi to change their stance and Shiekh Hamad (Qatari president) to sit where he belongs. You need the Lebanese people to say thank you that they have not lost half of Lebanon to Israel in 2006 but instead they curse Iran. You need the Palestinian authorities to acknowledge that Iran has been keeping the Palestinian case alive when themselves are fighting against each other and wasting more time.

Example of how the Gulf provokes Iran? When Iran sided with Syria against this messy revolution, EU and US sanctioned to ban Iranian oil to apply pressure onto them to fold. Next day, Saudi Arabia declared that they will bridge the gap in Oil exportation to support the US and EU. This would ensure that the west would get their supply required, while Iran finds itself in a catch 22.

And yes, US forces Saudi Arabia/UAE/Qatar/etc. into expensive and useless fighter jet deals worth billions of dollars, or ammunition that is about to expire, or weapons that if were to be used will be used against fellow Muslims. They use the excuse that Iran will attack the Gulf one day, amid Iranian threats, to justify it to the people.

All in all, its a disgusting situation that is riding tensions as high as ever, a plot and conspiracy on a massive scale that has cost the Arab people a chance to a true Arabic Spring and with it perhaps ACTUAL progress in the Palestinian-Israeli case, which is the ultimate case in the end.

As of today, what is the result?

Tunis - Perhaps a successful revolution. Short, ousted a corrupt dictator and his wife in no time. A new constitution that was put together in an orderly manner and a government already in place to keep the people safe.

Libya - 35,000 dead, $300 billion worth of 10-year contracts to repair damages and a sense of tribal divisions to oust a dictator about to die anytime now. Left without a government or a possible orderly one. Shame. Both figures are what has been declared by the media, so POSSIBLY the figures could be much higher. I hope I am dead wrong.

Egypt - Existing treaties have been maintained, therefore it doesn't change much. MBH are funded by Saudi and Qatar, so they are living by foreign conditions. Conditions I do not trust but for the sake of believing in something, at least let them crack down on the corruption for a start. At least the revolution was relatively quick and peaceful. Brave young Egyptian youth deserve all the respect in the world and I hope they do not give up now. I am HOPING that this does not become a worse dictatorship than Mubarak.

Bahrain - This is a shady story that has been Shiites bloodied and attacked by GCC police/army. Propaganda against the Shiites takes a giant step towards further discrimination.

Yemen - This one went underneath my radar relatively quickly but I think this one was for the most part successful. Though I do not know much about it.

Kuwait - People have been paid more money to shut the fuck up, making them even richer, perhaps even more obnoxious as well. But at least money went to the people.

UAE - People were given more land, rights to build, perhaps pay raises, their needs and wants answered to also shut the fuck up. The government has been creating ghost jobs (like build unnecessary roads) to keep the people busy. In the next two-three years, UAE vows to create 1 million jobs, how? I don't know but this can only be good.

Syria - Disastrous. Sad. Hope Qatar/Saudi stop messing with this country.

Saudi Arabia - who knows who/how many has been killed in there or charged with acts of treason. Also: http://www.businessweek.com/news/201...12-budget.html

Canada - Harper might have somehow kept this country stable during an economic crisis but is hell bent on bringing shame/or unjust to Canada soon. I wish he'd sit the fuck out of this troubled region and continue building this country as a safe haven for people around the world and work out a way to bring 1 million Canadian below the poverty line. Perhaps do something about natives. Perhaps spend a few millions in Sudbury to make it livable as opposed to spending massive amount of money to send our troops to get free weed in Afghanistan.

Worst part of all is a viscous propaganda hell bent on creating tensions among regions (east vs west) and religious factions.

May permanent peace be brought to the Arab world. My heart goes out to the families of those who have lost loved one(s). I wish and hope those who are creating religious, racial, regional, and tribal divisions among/within the Arab nations would be defeated in their quest for the destruction of the Middle East.

It's ironic how Egyptian revolution only made the country sink deeper into medieval times. From the looks of it, they are on course to become another Afganistan.
So much for the new, free, democratic Egypt.
    Bravo

Harper is a scumbag who is slowly destroying everything I love about Canada. It's not just the Middle East, his entire foreign policy is scummy.

He's gonna correct you and say

    "You mean Las Malvinas?"

Not likely that Argentina will relinquish their claim in the near future. Things are going to escalate but Cristina isn't stupid enough to provoke the UK and risk outright war. It would be suicide.

... at least... let's hope she's not that stupid.
    I'd also give myself a 10/10.

    Beat me to it.

In all seriousness Cristina is playing her cards perfectly so far, I love it. If they keep up the pan-Latin American diplomacy and Chile actually commits to the blockade, las Malvinas will be cut off and the Brits won't be able to exploit oil off the coast of South America and ignore everyone else.

She's too savy to risk dumb military action. Let David Cameron be the one pounding his chest, it will continue to make the Brits look bad here.

What do you want me to clarify more?

In all honesty for years the Argentine claim on the Malvinas was more fantasy than reality, the fact remains that for all the British chest pounding Thatcher probably would have sold out the islands had the military dictatorship not been such fucking idiots.

    But oil exploration changes everything.

The islands will probably remain british.. countries seldom give away territory voluntarily, and starting a war because of them would be beyond stupid and irresponsible
The only way I'd see it happening would be if relations improved and the Argies paid for them somehow (doesn't have to be with money)

And I'll be away for a week. Spain here I go!
