Neither Abidal nor Cruyff knows nothing about being a sports director. This is just a marketing move from our board. :shakeshead:

Cruyff has experience as SD from AEK Larnaca and Maccabi Tel Aviv. He was also quite successfull in this role in both clubs.

Yep. It was really ignorant to shit on Jordi like that. I still think they only wanted a fig leaf though.

Seems like Jordi was Barto's main choice but the only way he would have came is if he had a lot more freedom to do so.

All though some would disagree but Barto should have bit the bullet and did so. offer him the freedom and axe the likes of Segura.

All we know is that Jordi wanted power.

Abidal is appointed as a technical secretary while Segura remains as our general manager. If they wanted to give Jordi power and free hands, they'd hire him in Segura's place.

His contract runs out soon so we'll see what they have in mind.

If Jordi does take the spot, I can see Abidal working as a link between the board and the squad, strong personality in the dressing room. Meaning, not necessarily taking Jordi or someone else (Segura?) out of equation.

More read about Abidal and Planes they seem like shrewd appointments.

Not the unqualified yes men to a dark over lord that the usual suspects on here make out.

Even Bartomeu hasn't been as bad as people make him out to be. Savvy businessman at the very least. He's not the one scouting and signing the players for the most part.

Laporta wasn't any better, he just got lucky being around at the same time the golden generation were establishing themselves in the first team.

Bartomeu is the President of the club. He's responsible for putting the right people in place. Laporta put Txiki who had his share of flops, but also made some great, smart signings. Just too chaotic.

Rosell/Bartomeu carried Zubi for too long and have organized and reorganized the structure of the entire sporting section of the club all the time. That includes Basketball and the other sports.

And the savvy businessman got involved in the mess with Neymar and Santos so not that savvy after all.

Laporta had the energy and youth to lead that comittee like board that turned the club around.

Best ever president for how his time went but no fucking way should he be coming back. Times have changed and he looked fairly clueless when went to stand last time.

Was lucky that Pep came along at that time but credit for appointing him. At that moment the club was in a far worse place than now.

I'm curious to know what Planes looks for in players.

I read he was the one who help bring Coutinho to Espanyol on Loan, but I know very little about him.
