This board can't have enough scapegoats.

Imagine going from having one person in that position under Laporta(Txiki) to having Zubi, Robert, Abidal and probably some new guy soon

Too bad about Abidal. This disaster of a term will be a big part of his Barcelona legacy. Only got himself to blame.

There were also the 4 men group that controlled the summer of 2015 and signed Vidal & Arda. Lead by non other than our legend :braida:
Oh, and whatever role Segara was hired for.

Ah, who can forget Ariedo Braida. The man Milan threw out because he along with Galliani cucked the club.

Signed to bring Paul Pogba to Barcelona. Stayed for years doing fuck all and scouting our own Barca B team.

All those guys eventually were scapegoated by the same guy.

Zubi wasn't perfect but ended up getting the boot due to the whole Anoeta disaster even though the team won the treble that season.

Robert had some ideas but sadly most ended up being poorly executed.

Abidal is next on the chopping block but was just forgettable really. Seems like he played a role in the Pjanic-Arthur Swap, and tried to convince that getting Rabiot was totally a better idea than getting FDJ. And appeared to favor the idea of getting rid of Semedo and replacing him with De Scliglio.

Abidal is doing a poor job but he'd still just be the next scapegoat in line. Bartomeu is like Trump, at the end of his time he'll have fired like 50 board members blaming everyone but himself.

Zubi was far from perfect, but he was the one who worked with the coach and had a big plan in mind.
Also, you have to wonder if the board was pulling him back?
He signed Mascherano, Adriano & Afellay in his 1st year. All were success until injury ended Afellay prime.
Cesc & Alexis was brought with Pep request, bad deal but can't fault him for accepting the coach wishes.
Then he got us Alba for peanuts, replacing Abidal. Wanted to get T.Silva but Keita left and board wanted money to be saved for Neymar so we bring in Song in hope to act as back up DM/CM/CB.
Next year we bring Neymar in -doubt he played part in it- and he tried to get Mathieu for 10M which would have been a steal, he was told to forget about it for Neymar

When he finally had a freedom to work, we had a brilliant summer in 2014, before getting axed.

and tried to convince that getting Rabiot was totally a better idea than getting FDJ.

Let's be fair, Abidal wanted to sign FDJ the day he arrived. He was the one behind it and tried to sign him in 2018 with 30M offer.

No, that was Robert Fernandez(+ Segura) and before Abidal took over towards the end of June: https://en.as.com/en/2018/06/09/football/1528559710_854555.html

Abidal is the person who preferred to sign Rabiot over Frenkie and agreed a 10m salary + signing bonus with his mother before they backed out of the deal to try and get more money off us.

It's pretty clear that it was Bartomeu who ended up signing FdJ in the end, ending the Rabiot goose chase.

Abidal is the most useless SD we've had. Not only is he incompetent at his job, but whenever he opens his mouth he says something stupid. Sold his soul to Bartomeu in exchange of his legacy.

Is it really true about Thiago Silva? First time I hear this rumor.

Also, there's some caveats here. Zubi was at the club in a good period overall. When the platform is working, it's unlikely that the transfers will flop. These things are correlated usually.

The only thing I like about Abidal is that he moves quickly for young talents, I would keep him in a different role here. May be as assistant for SD? or Barca B SD?
But in terms of building a team he is bad. He doesn't work well with manager and tries to push what he wants. Not the smartest with interviews either.

He has been a big fan for T.Silva for long time. Wanted him but money was an issue, mainly due to salary (would have been 2nd highest paid player after Messi)

Things weren't working in 2013 & 2014 tbf to him. And most of those players were really good fit.
Players like Gomes/Arda/Vidal/Paco came in better time than anything we had between 2012-2014

Abidal continued to push for the deal after he arrived, you can read between 11th page to 40th page in his thread.
