Samuel Umtiti

Not good. If he’s going to need surgery he should just have it so he can start to recover. Lenglet and Verm can cover for him but we need another defender to push pique.

Considering Cartlidge injuries are no joke especially if it wears out. I really hope that this doesn't affect Umtiti long term, considering he's only 24/25 years old in November.

Still has a future ahead of him and it would suck if his knee problems persist in the coming years.

Conservative treatment should always be the first line of treatment in those cases for his own long term health. Puyol was once considered an iron man until he had to do a surgery after a surgery on his knees.

It should be done out of necessity, not for saving time

Umtiti was awesome before the injury. Easy top three cb in the world. After coming back you could see the difference. I thought it was the contract issue that distracted him but in hindsight it looks like the injury has been the cause of his lackllustre form.

It's bad to lose him now. We need to be better in defence, and he is the most stable of the CB's we have, generally speaking.
Usually Pique needs competition to pull himself together, so in that regard Umtitis injury is bad news as well :/

will it be better for him to get a surgery at the end of this season? if we buy someone in January, then we'll have 5 CBs. Vermaelen will probably leave and if we buy De Ligt, we'll still have 5 CBs which is one more than necessary.

Why is everyone so obsessed with surgery? Do you not know the damage a botched surgery can do? Look at Cazorla or Puyol's knees.

Players should avoid surgery unless its absolutely necessary

I think it is about a surgery or not, not a question of when. surgery is usually the last resort for injuries and it seems they don't want to go for it as it stands now
