Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

¡Gr?*cies Xavi!
Messi was hailed as the goat for important goals in the wc group stages, even if he was piss poor and invisible most of the time. Ronaldo gets hated for the same, go figure.

Invisible? He was literally Argentina's offence at the WC. Almost every attack started with passes and dribbles from Messi. He wasn't at topform, but still the best of the bunch. He would have more assists to his name at the WC if the likes of Agüero, Higuain (one game isn't enough), Di Maria and Lavezzi showed up.

Big difference, he saved Argentina with moments of brilliance. And those were all quality goals when the team is struggling. Ronaldo just gets 10 chances a game because his team has way more quality than getafe.
He plays like current Pedro for 90 minutes almost every game but scores his usual tap in/penaldo and is then hailed as savior/goat comparable to messi's game recently against Cordoba.

Him being like gerd muller and arguably the best goalscorer in the world is great but its gets annoying if people overlook his bad overall play to act like he is the best player in the world let alone within reach of Messi.

Messi was the only one doing anything up forward for Argentina.

Ronaldo was the one messing up everything, wasting chances after chances which his team mates created.

Go figure who was better.

Messi was Argentina's best player, but for some reason Masch is hailed as the one, even though he barely did anything of note except that last ditch tackle vs Netherlands. He was solid, but not amazing.

Scoring goals with subar performances, but gets hated instead.

Difference is Real dominates and Ronaldo gets a lot of chances/shots on target. Its more comparable to that game where Portugal struggled vs Denmark a few months ago or Barca vs cordoba 5-0. 2 goals from an invisible Messi.

morten's trying to hard to make messi and cristiano comparable...messi had the most chances created both through the group stages and in the knockout stages.

Statistics can be used in many ways. Here is one, everyone flamed Di Maria for losing the ball to often. But did you know how often Messi was disposessed in the group stages? ALOT. Ronaldo created more chances than Messi from January-may 2014 in the league than Messi, was he more creative? Hardly. Stats is not everything, sometimes you have to watch the actual games, and Messi was average at best.
