AFAIK, kidney stones are fairly easily treated nowadays, using targeted ultrasound to break up the crystals so they are expelled with much less pain. If he has some related infection, that would be the more serious concern.

Hopefully back in training in a matter of days.

I'll put it this way: you don't need to go to hospital just for kidney stone treatment. This is more serious.

I do know this. Forget the goalscoring for a second. What about the rest of his game? He's not that great.

Villa, 1139 minutes, 11 goals, 4 assists = takes him 75,93 minutes to score or assist.
Iniesta, 1909 minutes, 5 goals, 16 assists = takes him 90,90 minutes to score or assist.
Cesc, 1965 minutes, 9 goals, 10 assists = takes him 103,42 minutes to score or assist.
Alexis, 1403 minutes, 4 goals, 5 assists = takes him 155,88 minutes to score or assist.
Pedro, 2358 minutes, 7 goals, 7 assists = takes him 168,42 minutes to score or assist.

Statistically, the only player this season in Barca that is doing better is Messi, Cesc is close, and Iniesta even closer, but Alexis & Pedro are very far away, yet they all play the important matches while Villa stays in the bench, and all of them have more minutes. But okay, let's forget about the goalscoring as you requested (by the way, in football this is what makes you win games).

The video is titled "Villa+Messi vs Getafe first half", where you can see that Villa assists Messi twice directly, and once indirectly trough Alba, and a lot more that you can see in the video. Then again, that's just the first half, and that's just the highlights where Messi appears, there's more to that. In this season, Villa always linked up great with Alba & Iniesta from the left, and Cesc when both played together, and now he's doing great with Messi as well, which gives me back good memories from 2009. Villa makes great runs, provides assists, keeps the ball possession, always has 2 or 3 defenders around him because defenders take him seriously, and that gives Messi a lot free space to do his magic, links up well with pretty much everyone because he knows perfectly how Barca plays and plays like any other player from la Masia, doesn't dive, and defends when it's needed, and most important, scores, which is his main task. The fact that you say that the rest of his game is not that great doesn't speak well from you.
