They look a shadow of the team they were last season.

Their football is poor and their lack of options off the bench is hurting them bad.

They could desperately use a player the quality of :paulinho:

I keep seeing this being brought up but honestly...I don't think they were that great either last season. If it weren't for those late winner goals La Liga would have been ours.
They had mentality going for them last season, but it kind of dissipated going in Zidane's third season.

I agree with that.

They had all sorts of games last season like the one they had against Betis or Girona, but always had a late goal or two to clinch the win. They were never the best footballing side under Zidane, but they were hugely clutch. This season they lack that.

Madrid have a significantly better squad and balanced lineup than us despite whatever the results may tell right now, but Messi along with some bad form for Madrid's top dogs is the great equalizer right now.

In terms of their future, they don't look much better than us.

Their attack looks to be in really bad shape for the present and future as well. Ronaldo is declining and rapidly, he is on Suarez levels of bad right now and might not have much longer than this season left for Madrid. Bale is inconsistent both with his form and ability to stay healthy, he isn't getting any younger either. Benzema, well is just Benzema. They really have no one in the pipelines that could come through and replace anyone in BBC, Asensio is one of the most over hyped, overrated players in modern times being compared with Dembele and Mbappe for scoring a few long range shots, but has generally not shown much otherwise, he does have potential though.

This was the summer for them to get Mbappe, sell Bale before his stock fell any lower, sell Benzema, keep Morata and phase out Ronaldo. They could've run Mbappe/Ronaldo-Morata-Asensio/Isco for a season or two until they either found and adequate replacement for RW or fixed the problem internally if Asensio develops into a star . Instead, like most teams that had success they rested on their laurels and ended up declining.

Their defense doesn't look to great either now, while I must admit Varane is a great talent at CB, Ramos is getting exposed worse than he ever has been and Carvajal looks to be on a steep decline.

Other than their ridiculously loaded midfield, Madrid have a lot of holes that need to be plugged sooner rather than later for them.

What are you saying!? How could they miss out on ther annual & most coveted trophy, the Ballon d'Or, by phasing him out!?

There is no hope for this "team", not a single player is doing well.
Every single player suddenly became awful in a couple of months.
Sure, squad depth isnt as good as last year, but even our first 11 is fucking garbage.

Why doesn't Asensio - the greatest talent in the whole wide world - just take matters into his own hands and score a handful of bangers?!

Just a very cheap copy of Dembele.

Would still have signed him for 4m over Douglas though.

Carvajal, Kova, Bale and Varane all out. Just need players that have something to prove. Granted Carva and Varane don't necessarily count here, but the issue isn't football decline or skill. It's arrogance. As usual from this club. Nothing new at all. Manager has been a Galactico himself. Knows all about it. Questions is, is he as self-critical as he proved he can be?

There is a very simple reason for Madrid's decline which is similar to ours.

We lost our Lord.

They lost theirs.

Douglas and Danilo the true MVPs no one ever appreciated.

Your decline? What decline?
You are cruising towards another easy double/treble.
