Villarato!
You know you have won quite a lot when one of your supporters wants you to lose!

Monopolising winning is boring and does no justice to the quality of Spanish football beyond top3. Our position in the league would actually be good for it overall had Barca not hired a coach as level headed as Valverde who cuts through BS and is ready to transform your long standing philosophy to make the club a different animal. ATM hardly anybody has figured this Barca out. It would have been far better if you weren’t this good naturally because top4 would edge closer. Instead Valencia will fall off the pedestal since they can’t overcome their lack of depth. Would be far less of a problem if you hadn’t been this far ahead.

I’d rather champion Spanish football than continue the domination streak. Something teams like Bayern show zero concern for for example. Otherwise Premiership teams will continue the talent drain from Spanish mid-table.

Less so in the Champions League cuz ATM it’s probably just the big boys and Liverpool that have the shot. City winning it is nice and new, PSG win won’t do anyone any good, nor Will United or Barca. Would I worry about this if we were winning? Probably not, but or problems need addressing more than our trophy cabinet.

As long as you guys go out im happy. I think you willd end up with courtois, hazard and Icardi after the summer.

Which would be exactly what they need. A new striker, a new creative winger and a WC-goalkeeper. Then they have the squad of anyones dream once again.
Not too much wrong with the squad right now, but those additions would make it impossible to squeeze anymore talent in their without hurting the balance, which is quite good already.

They will not be able to replace Ronaldo. As much as people like to make fun of him, this Madrid team would have crashed out against the likes of Schalke if not for Ronaldo scoring a couple when others didn't look like scoring at all.

Benzema was hit and miss his whole career. I remember back in the Mourinho days when his own coach made fun of him for scoring less than Carvalho and got Adebayor in the winter transfer window. Leading CF of Madrid with 2 goals whole season. Dear Lord.

Bale is always injured and still overrated.

Modric is turning 33 this year.

Varane looked like the second coming of Nesta a couple of years ago but hasn't actually turned into a world beater.

They have to rebuild a lot. Goalkeeper is actually the least of their problems. The only reason I can't laugh too much is because this will happen to us in 2 or 3 years as well. Messi, Suarez, Busquets, Iniesta are irreplaceable. Maybe Valverde can pull an Aduriz out of all of them and they beast until they are 36.

Ter Stegen, Umtiti, Coutinho and Dembele is still a very good core.

We'll never reach the Messi era's heights again post-Messi but that's to be expected when he's the GOAT.

 @ pull an Aduriz. That's a good one

That is something that would be beautiful but I don't think that's quite possible. These are technical players whose game-play don't rely on them being uber tall, unfortunately

Why are Real Madrid so obsessed with replacing Keylor Navas? They also tried to replace him 2 seasons ago too with De Gea and even after proving himself by being their GK for their La Liga and back-to-back CL success, they still don't believe in him? What is wrong with them?

P.S. It would be good to see them splash 100m on De Gea or Courtois (based on the rumours). That means they'll spend over 400m on 3 players.

Ronaldo is easy to replace. If Suarez could overtake him at one point, I dont see how others cant. Kane for one is a good candidate. Griezmann as well. Basically a fast and tall goal poacher. Ronaldo's goals output is grossly overrated due to the number of shots taken by him, his conversion rate has been decreasing drastically since he came to Madrid. His goals stats have been boosted by many penalties as well. He may have accumulated many goals but in terms of his shots taken and his conversion rate, imagine how many chances he wasted just to be able to convert them into goals, if u think about it, yes it looks good on the surface, but it's just not ideal or proportional. He's been taking 7-8 shots per game, more than Suarez or Messi and definitely was more than Benzema or Bale. Just look at his number of shots in Euros. It's crazy. Bale when he first came to Madrid was solely a provider for Ronaldo, he was dribbling and doing all the defensive work, even Benzema who is supposedly a "striker" isnt acting as a pure striker, more like someone who plays behind Ronaldo and create space for him.

Sure, other players can do what Ronaldo does, but can they do it in the toughest games when the pressure it at its highest level? Because, like Ronaldo or not, he's scored some massive goals for Madrid in basically all their wins in recent years in CL. He is a big game player, one of the best of all time. Kane still has a lot to prove in this area, as does Hazard, Icardi and pretty much any name being spelled as his potential replacement.

Having the quality to score the goals Ronaldo scores is not that impossible. Quite a few players have that quality or even more of it. But having the tenacity and the mental toughness to bring your best version in decisive games with key goals is tough.

Ronaldo has been called a choker till he moved to Madrid though, citing some of the important penalties that he had missed or him not having a lot of big goals despite the relatively huge number of goals he was already stacking. (He did score in the CL final by then)

As a matter of fact, he took some time to start scoring even against us! It was after he had become their focal point and he was supported by an army of superb players in every position has he started doing so well, on a regular basis, in the big games

So, you never know. The concept of performing at the biggest of stages is maybe a bit over-rated. They are not some kind of students having to deliver a talk over a stage in front of huge crowd or something like that! The footballers have been performing in front of huge crowds all through their life for the pressure at its highest level to actually affect them

Plenty of players scored in big games, ultimately the best teams carry one another in the team, just because Madrid can deliver in big games, doesnt mean it's because of the greatness of Ronaldo, just because players like Kane or Hazard doesnt score as much, mean they are to blame for the team's loss and be labelled as "chokers".

Put Kane in a world class team like Madrid and see his goal output explode. Ronaldo is nothing but a goal poacher, and a few antics here and there doesnt necessarily converts to "superior mentality or toughness".

Without determination or passion, none of them would be even at top flight football and be scoring week in week out. Suarez has that determination as well, but doesnt mean he "choked" in Liverpool means he is not as "tough" as Ronaldo. Look how he instantly flourished in Barcelona alongside Messi and Iniesta.

I will always rate Suarez above Ronaldo, because Ronaldo is just a slight bit overrated. Yes he has good jumping and heading ability but in terms of how much he is fed in order to reach his number of goals is overrated. He is simply not the guy from United anymore. Kane will definitely do very well in Madrid. In fact, Madrid will probably be more balanced at the front without Ronaldo being the target man all the time.

Happened just as I speak. Kane is just world class. See this guy explode in Madrid, will prove how much of a farce Ronaldo is.

Hmmm. No.

I don't think even Kane will reach the goalscoring heights of Cristiano.

Why not? How would you know? He's doing it in the PL in a team like Tottenham, he can easily eclipse Ronaldo. Suarez eclipsed Ronaldo at a certain point, considering Ronaldo is a winger turned striker. His conversion rate has never been super impressive, albeit the amount of goals he scored. With a team like Madrid's Kane will be immense.

Because no one has gotten close to the goalscoring peaks of Messi and Cristiano.

Obviously CR now is 33 so he's not close to the player he once was either. Comparing Kane with a 33 CR would a bit silly too.
