Good finances are the bedrock of good performances on the pitch. Good performances are not guaranteed by all means but without good finances you can definitely forget about good performances on the pitch.
Plus, with your CL record in the last several years (whether deserved or not is an entirely different question) and winning the league last season one could definitely say that is good performance on the pitch.

First time in 13 years we score less than 100 goals in a calendar year, far cry from where it used to be, we used to score around 150.
Heck, in 2014 we scored 178, which is incredible and we cant expect to repeat that anytime soon, got to be close to some kind of record that one.

Benzema is okay, problem is he is the only attacker who shows up consistently.

Benzema has done okay, while he does have flaws, the problem is that he`s had no one else to work with in attack.
Bale decided to be a golfer, and the others in attack are youngsters.
Benzema at current level wouldn`t be a problem if there was another player who scored 30+ in attack, but there isn`t.

Far from the main problem, but he is a problem. He's old and should be improved upon as a matter of 2nd priority since the only other main issues are RW and CB and we can't afford to fix everything at the same time. If we won't have money for Mbappe this summer, he could sign for us for free. Which means we should either give Jović the time investment or stop playing coy and go for Haaland while he's still undecided. But lobbying is worthless when nobody inside or outside the club is willing to make the move.
Perez has himself to blame for the shitter he puts us in by letting everyone get lulled into thinking we can just coast on Benzema's average seasons.
