This team will not beat Liverpool. They may beat 90% of other teams on any good 2-leg tie, but not Liverpool.

And yes, I know your comment wasn't serious. But it's a bit weird knowing the squad is good enough to turn up on one day and equally fully capable of blowing another fixture.

Everything can happen in a CL tie.

Remember, a Valverde team nearly knocked them out. If he could almost do it, surely Madrid can too managed by CL expert Zidane.

damn, can you imagine a prime zidane RM team with CR against the current liverpool side in a 2 legged match? that would have been a hell of a tie

The 2017 version of RM would demolish Liverpool. The only meaningful big game they lost that season was 3-2 at the Bernabeu because of a colossal Messi performance. Outside of that, they bullied Atletico and Juventus in the CL semis/final, and won a war of attrition against a very strong Bayern.

I feel that the 2017 RM was one of the great sides of the last 20 years (right next to 2015 Barca, 2013 Bayern, 07-09 United, second only to Barca 09-11).

Liverpool would beat 16 and 18 RM though.

If James is fit, sure. Zidane is usually careful about starting people coming back from injury. Isco might be more likely.
If we're 'going for it' - Casemiro, Kroos, James, Hazard, Vinicius/Vazquez + Benzema

Or a 4-4-2 - Vazquez, Casemiro, Kroos, Marcelo/Vinicius, Benzema & Jović
