Xavi Hernández V2

Tactical issues coupled with having emotional intelligence of a toddler. Should be fun 2025.

But there is silver lining for Barca. Madrid does not like to win consecutive La Liga titles.

If we do replace Xavi, I hope we get Tuchel personally.

We're not replacing him.
Just pray one of the agreements with him staying wasn't him getting to decide where we spend whatever money we can spend.

It's perfectly normal for the manager to have a say, even if not final, on the players that are being signed.

It was a bad season league season no doubt. If it happens again, he is out.

Nobody says this was a good league season btw. He has delivered one great season and one bad season. So for the time being, he deserves credit to try and fix the issues for next season.

Calling last season great is a bit of a stretch when he got schooled in both the CL and CDR. Even in La Liga, the majority of the games were 1-0 wins, not necessarily an illuminating La Liga winning run, but did enough to get the job done.

Winning the league is one thing but the thing about Xavi is that the humiliations are always there, the collapses are always there. This season they were just present more than last season, especially in the league.

You say if it happens again...well it's been happening for the last 3 years under Xavi already and is unlikely to change.

Xavi needs to re-motivate the players at the level of the previous season. If he can't, he has to go since the squad is what it is. There is no way this squad can compete with Madrid next season if they don't give 100% every single match.

Have a say sure. Final say? Nah.

Pep doesn't handpick the players he want at City. Bayern don't let their managers do that. Liverpool for the most part didn't let Klopp do it, although he managed to convince them to sign Darwin Nunez so I bet they're regretting that now.

Real Madrid doesn't even include their managers in those discussions.

I agree, that's what I also said. There's consulting in terms of positions that need improving and profile of the player needed in terms of attributes. From this, it's the job of the higher management to provide options within our financial means.

Last league season of La Liga was great. No denying that. That's why these discussions get side-tracked into silly loops. Last season was a great league season, this one was bad. Quite clear.

We will see next season if we come back, or if changes need to happen with the manager.

I read Xavi's post-match comments and he basically blamed individual mistakes/players. So he is absolved I guess.

Next season is likely to be worse.

I think most people are expecting La Liga to be Ligue 1 equivalent next year when Real Madrid get Mbappe lol. On squad strength alone, it will be like PSG in Ligue 1 or Bayern Munich (before this season). So far ahead of everyone else that on all probabilities, it will be a one horse race.

Well... that is what happened. Nah, he's not absolved because individual errors are also something the manager has to fix.

One bad season can happen. Two in a row is non-performance.

La Liga last season was good, but it's not like we weren't grouped in the CL and then embarrassed vs. Eintracht Frankfurt.
