Pitch conditions probably didn't help. Shouldn't play in this game imo.

Looks like a new Vermaelen to me. Plays well when fit but almost always injured.

So far this season
-Played 12 played
-Missed 15 missed games through injury
-7 on bench. potentially recovering from injury.

Turns 33 in May. Should never have been signed on a 2 year contract and on such a high base wage.

Thanks Xavi.

2 years was a fair deal for 32 years old good starting CB in Liga
His injury history was decent till his last season with Bilbao, was kind of worthy the risk tbh
Won't mind if we ditch him for Bilbao again and getting Hermoso as replacement.

15 games missed so far this season.
24 last season
10 the year before.

Injuries seem to be mounting up since he hit his 30s. He has been good when he has played but salary way too high for 40% or so fitness rate.

Last summer, the problems of the Barcelona club at the 'fair play' level caused Íñigo Martínez and Barça to commit only for one season at the registration level. But the private contract between the parties is for two years. What does this mean? That the club will not 'cost' anything in terms of 'fair-play' to get rid of the defender, but it will have to pay him for the second season. We will have to see if in its entirety or in a high percentage.

This second would be more feasible if the Basque found an offer that reached or was very close to what he should perceive in a hypothetical second year in Can Barça. At this point it must also be taken into account that his salary the next campaign would be higher than that of the present one, since he adjusted it for reasons of 'fair play'.

Club needs to have a serious reality check in pulling so many financial loopholes just to pay Inigo Martinez a high salary and return to FFP problems a year later. Incredibly that us layman fans saw the train coming a mile away.

I can only justify it with one reason, the only way Laporta knows how to live is with severly high hypertension.

This is fucked up on so many levels.
So again, next summer we will have to re-register him?
Same as Fermin, same as Roque. We lose Roberto for free, we lose Alonso for free, Cancelo and Felix back to their clubs.
So players registered for next season in first team:
Stegen, Pena
Araujo, Christensen, Balde, Kounde, Dest, Lenglet, Eric Garcia.
Romue, Gavi, Pedri, De Jong, Gundogan.
Fati, Lewa, Raphinha, Torres.

18 players, and you can argue that Dest, Lenglet, Fati, Eric, Romeu are all deadweight's.
God, no surprise Laporta thinks we can reach 1 to 1 rule, we will have an empty squad so not that difficult :ROFLMAO:

PS: Any chance that the source of the rumour is bullshitting?
