9 - Samuel Eto'o

It's hard to believe that Eto'o could leave for free but if we do offer him a contract, then i don't think his performances would be as good as they were at the start of the season but more like the 2nd half of it. It also doesn't help the way we try and publicly force him out. He just gets angry and will proabably refuse to leave.

That sucks .... It'll be crazy if he stays without renewing and then leaves for free next summer.

Yup but it was also pretty predictable - at least if it does happen. Because although I was always hoping that Eto'o would think about it in the right way, that he would leave with his head held high etc. it always looked quite likely that he would stay and milk his contract + the next possible transfer. Especially if his plans are to head back to Mallorca, since he'll be going on a free Mallorca will actually be able to afford him and his wage package, so it will be a win for him in every way. If that really is the way events turn out, or something similar happens, then there will be no denying that he's always put his own self before the club. But until then I will keep hoping that everything ends the best way possible for all parties.

i'm having the feeling that he will complete this contract (which sucks for the club and is in some way even ungrateful to leave on a free), then milk some other great team (City for instance, that instead of his transfer fee, he wants that money as added salary) and then go to mallorca (because i don't think Mallorca can pay a player 8 mil or so a year).

the final goal is simple: eto'o wants and needs money. plenty of money.

either he goes to city, leaves on the top of his coolness and skill at barca, earns A LOT of money at city AND gives the club some millions
or
he stays, earns a lot in barcelona, uses his free transfer to earn EVEN MORE with a new employee AND doesn't return anything to the club

if it's the first option: i'm sad to see him leave but i would say it's the best for all parties since we don't know how he is going to play next season
if it's the last option: well, i hope he performs in his last season or he should be put on the bench (unlike this year) and let him have all the backfire

This is what i think ll happen...(though i'm hopin i'm proved wrong)
Villa ll stay at Valencia
Eto'o ll stay at Barca
Barca ll buy Diego Forlan :frown:
Keirrison ll move to Patético de Madrid on a loan...

... i think Citeh is not tempting any player of E2 class... lets face it... u lot are just thinking of the club only.. while it's a 2 way street
as a player he think of himself as well.... why will he move from the CL and treble winners to Citeh.. ? would u do the same ? why do u say he will screw u over while u showed how ungrateful you are for 2 consecutive seasons despite E2 undoubted service in giving you the best season of your history ... and u say E2 will screw you ? that's the least he can do ...

thanks to his big game contribution he gave u 2 titles u would never dream of achieving ... when the shit hit the fan E2 is there to deliver

If Citeh want a player of E2 Caliber they must show him more money... it's a crap team with a futuristic project on paper the problem is never in offering the club money.. Milan & Barca accepted the over the odds transfer fee.. the problem is any sane player would pass ... at this stage whatever E2 do should think of himself first not Barca ...

if it's the sec option thn the club shud take a harder stance and warn the player tht he'd be demoted to the reserves for the season...Wud he risk a year playin in the reserves at his age so tht he can move on a free next year???...this might just do the trick for us  ...U cant 've the player becomin bigger thn the club ffs...

But if he doesn't want to go, why doesn't he sign a new contract. even if it is for two years or something?

he is looking to leave next season if he doesn't sign, might as well leave this summer then with those intentions. At least the club receives some decent money with that year on his contract remaining.

Beast is right about City, I had a feeling this would happen. He deserves to be playing for one of Europe's top clubs. Unfortunately, City have the money but nothing else to offer  I really, really, really hope he doesn't stick around just to make life difficult for the club. I wouldn't be surprised if he did as he probably feels the club are treating him badly. Also, what does Eto'o staying put mean for the Villa transfer?

Looks like Villa may go Madrid and Barca are stuck with Keirrison. :p

Oh IT'S back.

I thought you said you had left. Obviously not a man of your word.

Blueduck, don't take it the wrong way  I'm not going to lie & say that City are a big club. Like, in fairness, the Kaká transfer is the perfect example. He signed for Real Madrid despite City offering Milan like, €30mil+ more  Laporta has said that Barça will still try to sign Villa if Eto'o stays so I don't know.

cause my friend u haven't shown E2 any sort of respect last summer or this summer (i know CA & Sunny will be on my back now justifying E2 /Barca situation ) .. u wanted to renew E2 u had all winter when he was banging goals... instead once u again u showed him the door in a matter that shows disrespect for his contribution ..
I've seen it happen before with old Barca players .. but i think with what E2 did (trophy wise ) he deserved a lot more respect that what u showed him

We could become a big club in the future though.

Everyone keeps saying "Chelsea were already in the champions league", therefore City will never get there. Just because nobody has ever done what we are doing before, doesn't mean we will fail.

Milan wanted Kaka to come to City, just like Laporta wanted Eto'o to come too.

First we need another top player in as a magnet for other top players, but to get that signing, we will have to pay over the odds to get them here in the first place. After we do that, it would be alot easier to convince players to sign.
