9 - Robert Lewandowski

Give it some time. The season has just started. You don't even know the CL group. You want your star player to peak at the right time of the season. You gotta persist and play him back into his form.

You'll say "Why this special treatment for him?" - because of his career and coz the Barca staff knows what he's capable of. He has credit in the bank. Everyone knows that a fit and firing Lewy will score for fun.

Also, let the system gel and flow. Barca haven't created much so far. The current system with 4 mids is uninspiring. Gavi as LW won't cut it.

Once Cancelo comes he'll get better service from wings and the team will have better mobility and pace.

Balde is a very good ball carrier but his crossing and end product is amateur level.

You cannot treat Lewandowski like you'll treat other ordinary players who haven't done shit in their careers. Be patient.
Nobody is complaining about his lack of chances. For that we blame Xavi and noone else.

The problem is, the actual service he gets, he cannot do anything with. He fucks up even the simplest of first touches, he lacks the vision to find his opponents and he isn't as lethal as he used to be in front of goal.

What you're saying is, he needs to be the center of the tactics, be spoon-fed 5 clear chances per game to score 1 goal? Like I said, our expectations are high for a reason as we've all seen what he's done at Bayern. He's not fail with those things I mentioned above, and the fact that he seems to keep doing that points to him being close to done as a footballer. He might score here or there, but over 90 minutes he tends to make the team WORSE. He's turning out to be a burden, just like Suárez was at the end.

See, if you get lesser chances regularly, you'll be more frustrated and after months of low chance creation you're finishing won't be as sharp and your goalscoring confidence will be low.

One good game where he scores and gets a few proper chances, you'll see a world of difference in his confidence.

Imo, this has got a lot to do with his frustration. He's looked miserable on the pitch of late.

But that's the thing, he is getting chances, maybe not open goals every game, but a good chance to score nonetheless.

And he acts like a brake pad in attack as he destroys the fluidity with his fumbling of the ball. Very Suarez-esque in combinations with the complaining. It's frustrating to grow old and lose your skills, and we have two prime examples of that in Suarez and Lewy (happened to Suarez at a slightly younger age though).

But if it was Messi, it would be great positioning skills and "what a genius"
Who calls Messi a genius for scoring open tapins?

I don't follow Messi after he left Barca and I haven't commented on any of his MLS games. But from what we all know Messi is the last person to only score from rebounded tapins.

The fact is that since the World Cup Lewandowski's scoring record has been terrible and the general play has been even worse.

Well he has a point, to an extent. The team does play poorly. The players simply are not of the quality of the ones Barca had 5 years ago let alone 10-15 years ago. The Barca DNA, La Macia thing is dead. No More youth academy products with the Tiki-taka philosophy who have known each other since kids and click together seemlessly. Barca fans have been spoiled to think that the 2008-2012 label which is arguably the greatest in all club and world football is something that gets reinvented every now and then. It doesnt. Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Alba, Villa, Puyol, Pique and yes Ramos, Alonso, David Silva, Fernando Torres and co. All these players coming from a roughly same generation to a same country... It doesnt happen often. That vintage is like having Federer, Nadal and Djokovic at the same time. It wont be replicated. The new norm for Barca is also the old norm - the one before 2006. Try to compete for the La Liga with Real and hope to reach quarters in the CL.

Calling that goal a tap-in is disingenuous. He received a difficult pass, gave an unexpected through-ball and finished off a move he set up himself. When was the last time Ronaldo had such a tap-in? Messi has been scoring “easy” goals he set up himself all his life.

He's not playing well at the moment. No problem for me, it is not now that I want him fit, I hope he will be fit when the important matches start. In my opinion it's too early to give a judgement (on him and team), we've just started the season (we're not even in September). However in general, it's the tactics that don't convince me.... but we'll see, let's see if Xavi can put the puzzle together.

Seen that clip. Think you'll agree that the level of defending inside the penalty box is absolutely appalling. The way the defenders reacted was a joke. Even a washed up Alba is cruising there with acrobatic stuff.

Lewandowski has a good point and it's something a lot of people have been saying, however.......his own play itself makes it worse as well.
Yes, we play boring football with four midfielders and don't generally create a lot of chances, but the chances we do create this guy wastes almost every time because he plays like Luis Suarez with one knee these days.

It's a combination of Lewy getting old and Xavis incompetence.
Lewy is getting chances but not burying them. However, they are sporadic, not like when he was at Bayern. At Bayern he was literally handed goals on a silver platter.
Both the manager and the player need to step up and make things happen.

Biggest joke will be Felix joining 😁.

So what? Messi did this at the elite level for Barca for years. He did it for Argentina for years at the highest stage in the world.
Most of the time his tap-ins are created through a move or pass he makes himself. It's not just standing in the box and waiting for the ball to pop-up and score on an empty goal.

And I don't see what this got to do with our lack of quality chance creation and/or Lewandowski's awful play where he keep getting bullied on the ball by second rate defenders?

Exactly. He needs to point a finger at himself too. He knew what he signed up to and now complaining. If he wanted easy life, stay in Germany league.
