Ousmane Dembélé

So we could only register two of the three signings, even with Dembele's money?
Barça keeps half of the clause.

That is where the crux of the matter lies. If Dembelé leaves Barça, PSG will have to pay the 50 million euros of his buyout clause – which becomes 100 million euros from July 31. Half of the 50 million euros go to his agent, and the other half goes to Barça. This means that the Barça club could use 8.75 million euros – 35% of the 25 million euros – for the purpose of salary space for one of the new signings. In theory, and if the club soon gets the 60 million euros pending from Barça Studios, there would still be pending to register the three new signings: Gundogan, Iñigo Martínez, and Oriol Romeu.

On the other hand, with the departure of the French forward, Barça would free up his contract worth 16 million euros gross. This means that the club would have an additional eight million euros in salary margin for new players. La Liga allows clubs that exceed their salary cap, as is the case with Barça, to use 50% of each released salary to register the new players, even if they remain over the cap.

Dembelé frees up 16.75 million euros. Therefore, if we add both amounts together, the conclusion is that Dembelé is possibly one of the players who can generate the most salary margin for the club in case of leaving. Adding the 8.75 million from 35% of his transfer fee to the 8 million from 50% of his contract results in a total of 16.75 million euros. This amount could be used by Barça to register two out of the three new signings.
It is worth mentioning that Gundogan has joined Barça with a symbolic salary of nine million euros gross, but with an ascending contract that actually guarantees him a higher average salary of around 12 million euros. Iñigo Martínez is also on similar terms with a salary of around nine million euros. Oriol Romeu, on the other hand, has a much more modest contract, around four million euros gross. In total, the three of them represent a salary cost of 22 million euros in the first year.

I hope Laporta doesn't spend big on Bernardo Silva.
That guy is worn out and looking for an exit and a cushier number.
We don't want it need players who want to cruise.

If the board were so desperate to re-sign him last season and gave him the 50 mil release clause with 50% going to Dembele, then they should've been prepared for the possibility of losing him this summer.
No player agrees to that sort of contract without having an eye toward other teams.

Exactly. This is on Dembele and his agent for sure but the club can't claim they didn't see it coming. Essentially they shot themselves in the foot by agreeing to this and not contemplating or planning what if they did have some club trigger it.

Surely the board can't be so naive?
At least Barto was justified in not thinking that a club would come and pay the buyout clause of 220 million.

Think it would’ve been better if he left for free last season. Now we worked a whole year on a system that’s not worth it without him.

Raphina was important last season but he should be used in a different way than Dembele.

And he was right, a club has yet to pay the buyout clause of 220million euros. A nation bought Neymar, not a football club.

The fact that this crippled clown had us put in a clause that allows him to pocket 25 m from a buyout shows you all there is...

I am OK with us losing talent or players with our head held high, I am not OK with us kowtowing to players just to beg them to come or to stay and making us so petty alone the way.

We shall never be this petty again.

Also, the reliant on Dembele for our "system" bit is overblown imo. Is he an improvement to the current team? Yes.

But this is an unprofessional clown who is injured half the season in the best case scenario for him. We basically handled the business end of last season without him and won LL fairly convincingly. And let's not pretend Dembele at any point in his life had the balls and game to make a difference in big CL KO games. So, it's bust with or without him there.

Worrying about losing the system without him is not worth it. We ain't losing prime Messi or prime Neymar here
