Dmytro Chygrynskiy

We bought him for way too much. Also our style is more exposed to defenders and Chygrynskiy is used to having solid, organised deep midfielders in front of him to make life difficult for opposing the teams attack.

There's not much he could do there. Shaktar are a rich club club that doesn't need money and Pep pin pointed Chygrynskiy as his preferred player.
Club did make a mistake however in not securing his signature before Shaktar played their CL qualifier.

His style is more suited to organised physical teams that are hard to break down. Not possession football where creative freedom is allowed and often everyone is attacking apart from the defensive midfielder and the two centre-backs. So it was a poor choice of player for our system. I am not denying that he has alot of potential, he would be more suited to Italian football. In that way he was a waste of money.

It's not too late for him and slow defenders can make it here (Rafa was slow even before his injuries began and while Pique is athletic he is far quick) but Dmytro does seem exceptionally slow. I think your analysis is spot on but me and other sceptics can still eat crow before this season ends.

You're right there is still time for him to prove himself. At his young age he can adapt his style as much as possible and maybe improve his pace to an average level. Wait and see what he does until the end of the season as you said.

Piqué was relatively bad until this point in the season last time around, so perhaps Csiga can do a Piqué and become a rock.

If Vidic was judged of his first season performances at Manchester United he would have ended in the championship. Give Chyg some time :)

Yeah we're prepared to give him time. Defenders need to develop an understanding with other defenders and so on. However his style does seem a bit out of place so it will be harder for him.

I dunno Hamzah, about his style, to me he seems like a typical Barca defender. He's the next Marquez. Slow as hell, good long ball, decent passing, many poor challenges, anticipative defender.

* Note by that I mean typical Barca CB - because a typical Barca defender doesn't exist - you have the attacking wingbacks, and the more static CBs.

Not this season.

Piqué knew the club and felt at home after some months. Chygrynskiy definitely needed at least a pretemporada.

What the ?uck with Chyg? Does he even train?? Judging by those several minutes he played with Malaga he moved as if he weighed 130 kg. Dima, stop screwing around. A gifted player as people considered yourself to be before transfer to Barca just must had already adapted to La Liga's style of play!!!
