"I am staying because City can't pay may release clause and my lawyers have fucked me over! Visca el Barca i visca Catalunya!"

PS. Can Luise please stay?

Yeah, that's exactly how I imagine this will end. Basically his lawyers got it all wrong and they will admit this in the public statement.
They don't think their case is strong enough to win in court so they'll just back off now. In addition Messi will be seen as a victim on media because La Liga + Barto didn't want to offload him.
Actually this time now is the perfect time to announce his stay. He will make the club and La Liga look reaaaaly bad and he will end up as the "good" guy.

You think 3rd or 4th and possibly out in group would be Barcas worst season ever?

If Barca finish third and get out of group while making some of the changes needed for future that will be far from worst season ever.

Poor Messi being 'forced' to stay on contract he signed.

I'm talking about our worst season with Messi. If you're happy with us finishing 3rd or 4th and getting knocked out of the Champions League early because change needs to happen, I have no clue what to tell you.

He's obviously being forced to stay. He wants to leave. He sent in a transfer request and missed training for a week! And he signed that contract when we were in a better position. He's entitled to change his mind a few years down the line, especially when he's been here basically his whole life.... especially when he's won everything he possibly could.

You claimed worst season ever then changed it but fair enough.

I am happy with top 3 and getting out of CL group if the club is building for future and it is progression to somewhere better.

Would prefer that every time to watching slow old team of this season with no future finishing second and getting to QF then humiliation.

Yes... he is being forced to see out his contract that he signed. Keep repeating that fact.. it is key.

You are just spouting nonsense about then being able to break that contract against clubs wishes years down the line.

Where are you claiming team are next season if Messi leaves?

The lawyers have nothing to do with it. He freaked out for some reason, announced his resignation and ordered the lawyers to fight for his decision. The resignation clause is clear to everyone who has seen the contract.

That's my whole point. We're still going to struggle even with Messi in our side, so why not just negotiate a sale for him and put that money towards the future?

He signed that contract years ago. We were in a better place. We didn't throw away a 3 goal lead twice and get smashed by Bayern at that point. He's given us everything. He's won us every trophy. He's earned the right to leave the club. He's allowed to change his mind years down the line.

We're haggling over 9 months.... over a club legend. He can sign a pre-contract with another club in 4 months anyway, so I don't see the point of this. And players like Rakitic, Suarez (reportedly) and Vidal is getting released for basically free.

Pathetic argument to claim club should rip up contract as in 'better place' when he signed it. You have few arguments left and getting worse.

You have been told the difference in why other players have been allowed to go for free or very little.

City need to make offer for Messi if want to buy him. It is not on Barca to approach them.

Where do you see Barca next season without Messi?

My arguments are valid. You're just being too stubborn.

Pointless debate.

lmao at people telling we would finish in 3rd la liga.
We HAD hit the rock bottom, our players know they fucked big time and motivation would be at highest since, im brave enough to say this, since 2008.
With koeman we could get a workrate back, and thats the only thing that matters.

We would assassinate la liga, but would fell short for cl, even tho even know we have better chance to progress further then in last season

No they are not valid.

'Why not release Messi when release Vidal, Suarez and Rakitic' is as naive/ignorant or just deluded as it gets.

'Messi should have contract torn up' as club was in 'better place' when signed it is just as bad.

Staying and renewing OK.
Staying and going away for free next year WRONG SOLUTION.
In this way better to sell him now for 100/150mln.

the future of the club was already F***ed by the board by years and years of mismanagement. messi has nothing to do with that and should not be viewed as any shield.
