Erling Haaland

He just has that aura around him. He is a top top player and the type of player who in the future will decide many CL games.

I get this sentiment too. I think he's gonna be a bit of a fun freak-like player that's quite hit and miss. A bit like Dzeko, or Drogba. I don't think anyone should fear him being a Bas Dost, Nikola Zigic or Jan Koller.

Drogba isn't a bad comparison.

More like Ibrahimovic for me. Technical and mobile for his size, but I feel he can be marked out by a proper defense against Europe's best sides. Will probably be a monster league player.

At Dortmund it would be difficult. They play insanely fast out of the back or whenever they dispossess an opponent. Very little time to organize a defense here, let alone that while marking a kid with Ronaldo positioning ability.

Bundesliga suits him, it's a pacey league, end to end. It's heaven for players that like spaces, like Haaland. I think he'll struggle a bit if teams don't give him space. His close ball control is suspect a bit imo.

I would have actually said that a type like Haaland is probably the most effective to break down such a defense, when so many technical football approaches have failed against them. But you never know.

Lack of space argument is totally ass when you have a 195cm dude who can get to 5x the amount of crosses solely because of the long body and smart positioning. People were saying the same shtick for years about forwards coming from the Prem to La Liga and it worked just fine, many of the best players adapt. Even Bale who's as one dimensional as it gets will score on you and he doesn't have to have a heavenly touch to do so.

+ talking about space as if he's a kick n rush winger is nonsense. 95% of his goals so far are tap-ins or quick finishes in the box where he brushes off his marker. Or they're about great timing of runs onto a cross, much like Ronaldo.

Funny thing about Haaland is that I've yet to see him do well at headers coming in from crosses/corners. Being tall doesn't mean you're naturally great at it.

I'd take 1.84m Ramos over most tall players.

Yeah it's something he has to work on. Most are played to his feet and he gets to more of them, because he's long, so even if you overhit a pass where normally someone like Benzema or Aguero has no chance to get to, Haaland will stretch for it.

Bale is a good example of the opposite. Decent player, but hardly a key player for you and his technical limitations were more than apparent. I expect the same of Haaland in the more tactical and slower La Liga.

As for playing vs two deep blocks of four: Every player can look bad vs setups like that - whether Messi, Ronaldo, Haaland or whoever. Liverpool got Atletico'd this season with a completely different style to ours.

True. We saw Dembele struggle in Spain. He was great in Germany, but Germany is a paradise for any offensive player. The league is so disorganized in general.

That's why.. We need to be careful when judging players from the Bundesliga. They will ALWAYS look better than they are. There are some gems, but some total bombs too.

Exactly. Ronaldo was always poison for Atletico. He is similar, maybe not yet as great head player, but I assume he will improve. He is insanely fast too.

Good point. Ramos is a monster in headers.
