This is easily one of the top 3 performances ever for a single player in a UCL campaign.
Not just the goals (which are simply amazing BTW), it's the overall play and level of sheer quality which was off the charts.

And this team still managed to bottle it.
Unforgivable.

I told myself i'd never watch that game, not even highlights. But man, liverpool actually was not that good at all. What bums like suarez, alba and whoever was in clear chances missed was unbelievable, messi should have 3 assists that night. Ffs

Coutinho was the 3rd bum.

The truth is that Liverpool played much better in the first leg than in the 2nd. Our overall performance at Anfield was not too bad, but calamitous individual mistakes at crucial points destroyed our CL campaign (Alba, Alba, Mats, Alba again, Suarez, Coutinho, Pique, Mats) -> It was a shower of shit from many of our players who completely lost focus and had zero grit.

Exactly. Had a friend of mine who’s a Liverpool fan telling me... oh Anfield was too much for Barca etc I was like no, we did the exact same against Roma with this pathetic manager and beta players. There was nothing overwhelming about Stadio Olympico or Roma players, we could’ve beat both Liverpool and Roma away imo with different squad selections and actual tactics instead Valverdes favourite of “defend the first leg result”

Liverpool fans understandably want to romanticize what is almost surely the highlight of their history (even bigger than Instabul imo) but the fact of the matter is that they did not do anything great, just like we didn't in the 6-1 vs PSG (bar Neymar) Just like PSG before us, we self-destructed and that's it.

Roma game was different. That was utter shitshow, we havent had a clear chance at all if i remember correctly. But at anfield was a pure example how shit our finishing is beside messi. If we had griez that game im sure as hell he wouldnt fucked it up. Or would he?

About tactics, spot on. Inter game is the clear guidance how we should play away games. Im not gonna shit on ernie right now, its christmas(merry christmas to all of you lads) and let him have his day. But.. Again, that was a hell of a cl campaign from messi. Lets hope for another one!
