Adama Traore

Of course you can't judge a player too much on such a small sample. However, I don't see the justification for derisively calling the Premier League a 'kick and rush headless chicken style league'. What does that even mean?

No tactics?
No technique?
No aesthetic style?

Untrue on both counts.

It means lots of tactics , lots of reliance on physical attributes (pace and strength) No technique and No aesthetic style.

So players like Salah, KDB, Pogba, Aguero, B Silva (Portugal's best player, right;)) have no technique?

Every leagues top players have some technique, although bar KDB and Bernardo that's a pretty average list in terms of technique. It's whether the team plays up to that technique or sacrifices it to play the epl headless chicken role.

Bernardo is a classic case in point. At Monaco he was far more technical and better to watch as an out and out RW attacker. In the EPL we see less of that because he's running around like a headless chicken so much.

If it's just great technique you're after why not watch professional tricksters only

Put Denis Suarez in the EpubL and he would be the best dribbler. They don't dribble, its a kick and rush headless chicken style league. Get it wide and Get it in the middle - never beat your man.

Yeah right because a league that boasted BOTH Champions League finalists and BOTH Europa League finalists + a 98 points Man City is horrible right? I'd argue that 7th-10th placed teams in the PL is good enough to finish 4th in a lot of the top European Leagues.

Don't think it's arguable that PL is the best league in the world atm. La Liga held that title for the past few years but things started shifting in 2017 with the rise of Pep's City and Klopp's Liverpool, and the PL is back on top now.

Also La Liga being dominated by Lolverde's Barca doesn't look good for the league at all.

Yes I don't mind saying the PL is the best right now because it has proven it. What always annoyed me were the fanboys that claimed it was stronger than La Liga from 2009 to 2018 when Spanish football was patently better by far. Things have turned again, however.

Liverpool and City are better than Madrid and Barcelona. Until this is the case Premier League will be stronger. Issue is they will continue to be stronger as long as they are managed by Guardiola and Klopp.

Atletico and Valencia are pretty much on par with Chelsea and Tottenham. Atletico is probably the best of the 4. Then Tottenham and Chelsea and Valencia/Sevilla a bit behind.

Doesn't it make you laugh that for all those years of La Liga dominance with Real and Barca being so great in La Liga, now the PL has the same thing with two great teams completely dominant.

I think for PL fans it puts it into perspective that La Liga wasn't a weak league it was just Real and Barca being that good.

To be honest, most of the decent posters on redcafe have realised this, and now they are mocking the ones who still hold this idiotic opinion. Now EPL is basically like how La Liga was in the last decade or so. 2 superteams way above the rest, with a clear 3rd (Tottenham now), and the rest of the good sides fighting for last CL spot.

I would say AM is closer to Barça/RM than Tottenham is to City/L'pool.

And there is also no clear top 6 in La Liga who is distantly better than the rest of the league.

It's hard to compare both leagues in general though when a newly promoted team in EPL can easily spend 100M+ which is around the same that bottom 10 teams in La Liga spent together.

I would say that City and Liverpool, EPL top two, is better currently than Barca and Madrid. So this is edge EPL.
I would then say AM is better than Tottenham, United, Chelsea, Arsenal.
But I think United, Arsenal and Chelsea are better overall than Sevilla, Valencia and Getafe/Bilbao/Vilareal.

What has changed is the level of City and Liverpool since Guardiola and Klopp came on board has improved constantly, while Barca's and Madrid's levels dropped compared to 2015-17.

The differences are not big. It's close, but the only top 6 place where La Liga > EPL, is third place. And even there, Tottenham on their day could beat Atletico for sure.

I think this is a very fair and reasonable assessment of the current situation

Mats

Semedo pique clem alba
Arthur De Jong Vidal
Messi Griezmann Neymar.

This team beats Liverpool ... comfortably.

This team beats Man City .... emphatically.

Book this post, if this team ever plays them.
