Man United = Guaranteed starting spot, plus they will build a new team around him.
Downside, he won't win any prices in the next 4-5 years. And he will play in the EL next season against Abderbeen, BATE Borisov and Fenerbache. :messi:

Not the end of the world. But i didn't expect that. I would be oke, if it was City or Liverpool.

But United ?

He get to see his friend Frenkie win titles and play in the CL from afar, while he is struggling in Europa League with the boring and dissapointing Man United

lmao its United calm down, they are always used to bump the price, and we are the muppets that will pay the bumped price, it's how it was and how it will always be. If Frenkie wasn't his friend Madrid would be bumping his price too.

The thing is if the Club really wants someone like De Ligt that badly but don't want to destroy the wage structure then we have to make some sacrifices ourselves.

Selling off deadweight like Gomes, Rafinha, etc isn't good enough. You will actually need to make the hard choice in selling someone like Coutinho, Rakitic, Umtiti, etc to actually make a difference. You can't just sit here and say "Well we want De Ligt but we don't want to sell the likes of Rakitic, Umtiti, Coutinho" To help afford it.

Same can apply to Griezmann. If they want these guys so bad you need to make sacrifices to do so.

not just his first L, a huge fat L losing a talent like this to a Europa league team :valverde:

You can't blame him though. He did everything he could. He flew over to Amsterdam and brought the whole Barca contingent with him but to no avail. We simply can't offer him the kind of money Manchester United pays him because it would have caused problems in the dressing room and the players all going to want a huge raise.

In the end you can't beat money so we really have to think about how to make much more money than we do now.

No team builds around a CB.

We could sell all those players we wanted to sell and have all the money in the order but we still can't offer De Ligt the kind of money ManU offers him, unless we simultaneously give a raise to every player that we pay less than De Ligt's salary.

It follows the exact same route that de Jong transfer took.

Romero and the other channels said that it was almost over (and it was) while the player and Ajax were just waiting for Barça to raise both salary and transfer fees offers.

And then, Ajax and Van der Sar will say how great the friendship between the two clubs is. And blah blah blah. De Ligt will say he has signed to follow the Cruijff and Ajax/Dutch tradition, to join his best friend and play with Messi. Bartomeu will play the savior. And everyone will be happy.

Same thing was said about de Jong. He signed for 75 + 11 (easy bonus) and 10 + 6 (attainable) bonus. And everyone here think it is not expensive anymore.

(1) Bartomeu already went to meet De Ligt and it didn't go well.

(2) We have stated that we will not increase our offer.

You don't need to sarcastic on this anymore.

lets see what the actual wages are first. 10mil + 6 in bonus is probably around the same amount we offered De Ligt which is fair imo but the kid and his agent put pure greed ahead of football

Juve, Bayern, City, Liverpool and PSG were also chasing De Ligt, something must of scared them away as 75mil asking price from Ajax is a snip

At the very least we would have to up De Jong's salary. Wouldn't you agree?

On what ground should we be paying De Jong less than De Ligt?

Calma. Much more reliable Moises llorens said that de Ligt refused the 250k offer a week from United and apparently doesnt want to go to the PL. Barto and Co. will try to convince him to join Barca.

Really reminds me of the de Jong case. OJO merchant said the exact same thing about De Jong before he joined us. That guy is getting more unreliable each year.
