Not really. The point is that Valverde doesn't even need all that defending this forum asks for. And that childish stuff like the thread name change speak for themselves, too.

If you read the last few pages, many of his usual critics did actually praise him for tonight's game. However, I never see you or any member of Order of Valverde temple i.e BBZ, Ursegor, Horatio, Messi983, Messigician, Khaled...etc. criticize him, not even once. It's like he is a holy figure for you guys, and criticize him is considered blasphemy! I rarely witnessed such similar case in football before. Pep and even Cruyff got criticized by everyone even their die-hard supporters but not for some devoted Valverde supporters.

Finally this thread is cooling down, and nice to see 4-4-2 still works.

Looking forward to see how Valverde will handle rest of the season. 10p is huge and does give us some leeway.

PEP era was great, but managers like Tata and Tito who played The barca way, did imo play less entertaining than valverdes seasons. We played predictable and without innovation and The results werent great either. For me it often felt like i slowly but surely could see the team dying. NEITHER did contribute anything special. With Valverde I have the feeling this team can go in so many directions. Only thing i would critize is that I hope he more oftenly can play a bit more barca-like.

Cmon guys, Valverde defenders talking about how good we were attacking... We have 1 FK goal, Suarez solo run, Messi-Suarez combination, and Messi wonderful goal. Goals only from individual quality, not the whole team participating.

And again, we are not RESTING OUR PLAYERS. Most of them are over 30. We will get to a point where players will be dead tired and will be too late. And for this I blame Barca physical trainers and Valverde. Every team rests their core once in a while, specially around March/April, except Barca. And it's not like we have only 11 good players, we have a very good depth in squad. Poor management, very poor.

How many chances did Suarez miss? Every goal scored by every team is somewhat an individual brilliance. EV has put the team in a situation to easily expose the opponent, knowing exactly their weakness
n 1st game we came arrogant and tried to force our game and they exposed our defense. Today he realized his mistake and made it simple. Credit to him

Half of the names you mentioned has criticized him, if you didn't see it then it is your problem

I'm guessing Vidal and alba are dead to you. Vidal started 2 of the goals with the immediate pressure and alba was constantly being our outlet to stretch the defense and should have resulted in a couple of goals if Suarez was a normal striker. MaTS, Alba, Arthur, Vidal, Messi, Suarez were all integral in starting our attacking moves, wasn't just individual brilliance

Getting that result wigth a very mature tactical performance is an achievement and very encouraging.

Alternating that 4-4-2 with a 4-3-3 can give Barca a tactical edge in Cl games

Not a very aesthetic approach but certainly not bad either.

Defend deep with 2 lines of four and let Messi work his magic up front.

The only downside with this is that Suarez is not very quick in transitions.

So the only useful approach is for him to hold up the ball and bring the others around him into play as quickly as possible.

May or may not be effective in a case where a team is prepared to sit deep aswell.

But when Messi is in your side side, everything is easier. Ernie himself said so yesterday.

43.9% - This was the lowest possession figure that Barcelona have had in a single LaLiga match since 2004/05 (43.9%). The only drawback of today's match!
