Matthijs de Ligt

Can't see Bayern going after De Ligt as they will never outbid their competitors in a bidder war, not that they don't have the money.

Hasn't he said he wants to wait until the season is over to make a decision.

Best for us too--see how Umtiti comes along and Tobido, or even if Tobido might be able to play another position.

I know as fans we like to have certainty now, but perhaps best for him and club to be patient and make the best business decision.

He was solid once again last night.
I think it could work out well if he were to join us in the summer.
Seeing how Vermaelen & Murillo will prolly be gone around that time.
We'd have Pique, Lenglet, Umtiti, Todibo and him.
However Pique is 32 and probably won't be around for that much longer either.
I'm not sure how much he'd cost, but he'd be an amazing signing regardless!

Friendly and competitive

Yes it can go ether ways. Freddy Adu was also the next Pele. And we all know what happened
I know he is expansive. But you can also see it this way: If he can fulfil his potential. He can play as a Barca CB for the next 10-15 years. So whatever you pay for him. In the long run it will be worth it.
And yes the Eredivisie is a shitty competition. But the Eredivisie also produced some of the biggest players. So a weak competition doesn’t have to say anything. But i know a lot of people are skeptical about Eredivisie players.

BTW
De Ligt is a bigger talent than Frankie. If i had 86 mil to spend. De Ligt would be my first choice rather than Frenkie. And yes, i've seen Frenkie play for years now. Even before the hype. Before he debuted for Ajax. He's a really great player (still a bit overhyped) and has "something special” very few players have. But De Ligt is the true gem.
We will see what the future brings.

Agreed.

De Ligt is more a leader warrior type.... Liverpool, Bayern, Juventus and Madrid like to be a better fit but Barca can use such player too why not?

A very good player but too similar to Pique and Lenglet. I prefer a more dynamic, aggressive cb similar to Puyol or Umtiti.

De Ligt is a good mixture of both to be honest.
He's good with the ball on his feet (he started as a midfielder like Pique). He's physical strong, mentally strong and can be aggressive if needed.

But yes, he's more like Pique than Puyol.

Is he any good? I know nothing about him. A quick summary on his strengths and weaknesses please?

He's a leader, strong, composed, great in the air. Not the fastest (but not slow) and neither as tall as a lot of other CBs, but makes up for it with his smartness and tenacity.

Bayern was there, Juve was there....

So basically it's gonna be a battle between, Bayern, Juve and Barca ?

Don't think City is interested. They already have Stones and Laporta. Who are both still very young. No need for De Ligt.
