Malcom

BBZ will for sure find an explanation for this is "logical" decision. Guys let's be fair here, our only hope is that this men get's fired in the next week or two. If Farto decides to wait longer he will probably destroy this entire season.

The board wouldn’t have the balls to do it.. and I dont think they could justify it when we are still top of the table. 2 points in the last 3 games against those opponents is shocking though.. and the brand of football were playing is awful.

What's the fuss about now? Where is the logic in unconditionally defending a player that's serially not getting called up?

I am going to assume that Valverde does not see Alena and Malcom as fully match fit yet. I am hoping someone from the press asks him specifically why Malcom is not selected so we can get a proper answer.

It is horrendous squad management to not integrate new signings as quickly and as seamlessly as possible. A sporting department just does not spend millions of euros on personnel to not have them effectively used.

These rants would’ve made sense, If at least someone made a detailed breakdown of what’s wrong with current system and tactics we’re using and how malcom’s skills and player traits can help to alleviate said issues, With that i’ll be all down with joining the outrage.

But there is none of that of course, This weekly drama all comes down to, That Malcom is one of our new shiny ‘toys’, And like any new shiny ‘toy’, They want to see it in action, No tactical rationales or criteria needs to be made or met, They want malcom, Because they want Malcom.

The way i see it, In the current 4-3-3 system we’ve been using since the start of the season and with that right side owned by messi, The only way Malcom will see any minutes, Is by being a substitute for dembele, And even if that happened, He’ll playing on the left, outside of his natural position (Which explains why valverde used him on the left in the preseason matches, Which this forum doesn’t like by the way, Go figure) You can see how this alone will put Malcom outside of the call-up priorities, But when you add to it, Our current massive problems in pressing and defensive transition, Underwhelming midfield and defense, Which has **ck all to do on weather malcom is playing or not, This really puts him in the really really absolute bottom, Specially when you have other versatile players like rafinha and denis who can play both as mids and forwards, This is not even taking into factor that he was injured for two weeks.

The problem is that your pecking order of our players is different to EV's:
EV's pecking order is:
Attackers:
1. Messi
2. Suarez
3. Dembele
4. Munir
5. Malcom

Fan's choice:
1. Messi
2. Dembele
3. Suarez
4. Malcom
5. Munir

Midfielders, EV:
1. Busquets/Rakitic
3. Coutinho
4. Vidal
5. Arthur/Rafinha
7. Denis
8. Samper/Alena

Fan's choice:
1. Coutinho
2. Busquets
3. Rakitic/Arthur
5. Vidal
6. Alena
7. Rafinha
8. Denis
9. Samper

RB's, EV:
1. Roberto
2. Semedo

Defenders EV:
1. Pique/Umtiti
3. Lenglet
4. Vermaelen

Fan's choice:
1. Umtiti
2. Lenglet
3. Pique
4. Vermaelen

So, basically, EV has his pecking order and he:
1. doesn't rate Arthur as high as you guys
2. he doesn't rate Alena at all
3. he doesn't rate Malcom as high as you
4. he doesn't rate Semedo higher than Roberto
5. he doesn't rate Pique as low as you

When you accept his pecking order, his decisions are quite consistent.
He is neglecting Malcom and Alena, and to some extent Arthur.

Regarding this particular case, Malcom:
1. if we'll play 433, we will play Messi-Suarez-Dembele
2. we will have Munir as our 4th attacking option
3. and Coutinho as a LW, and another midfielder playing instead of him
4. Denis can also play as a LW and RW
No need for 7 attacking options (Messi, Suarez, Dembele, Munir, Coutinho, Denis AND Malcom).
If we'll play 442:
1. we'll play Messi-Suarez, and Dembele as a RW or on the bench
2. in that case, we'll need even less attacking players (and MORE midfielders), since we'll still have Dembele, Munir, Coutinho, Denis as sub attacking options

About a debate Alena vs Denis/Rafinha.
Rafinha played several seasons here and lots of big matches.
Alena, no comment.
Denis also played a lot.
You will guys now reply: BUT Alena is a talent. Well, EV is saving his job and needs experienced players. And still CL match is not a place to develop Alena.

Further, Coutinho is our only attacking-midfielder option.
Busi is more defensive minded.
Rakitic also.
Vidal also.
Arthur also, even though some will disagree.

So, if Coutinho gets injured or if he will play as a LW, we won't have any attacking minded Cms.
And go back to EV's pecking order, and then we have attacking minded Rafinha and Denis.

About comments how we paid 41M for Malcom.
Well, 40M today is like 10-15M from 10 years ago.
Malcom could easily end as Henrique and Keirrison.
And if reports are true that EV didn't want Malcom, what is he supposed to do?
If he doesn't like his set of skills or he thinks that he is not good enough, is he supposed to play him infront of players whom he (EV) rates higher?

I will put an analogy, IMAGINE guys that you are a coach TODAY.
And, let's say that your idea is to play Barca's possession DNA football.
And your favorite midfield would have been: Coutinho-Arthur-Busquets, with Alena and Rakitic as subs.

And then, let's say that you are happy with that midfield trio, and the board just buys Rabiot for 50M this winter.
And what now?
You didn't ask for a guy.
You don't like his skills.
You don't think that he is better than "your" picks.

Would YOU guys now still play Coutinho-Arthur/Alena-Busquets, or would you suddenly force Rabiot into a lineup and kick out your favorites like Arthur and Alena, so that Rabiot (an expensive signing by the board) could play?
Who doesn't have skills which you need and doesn't fit your plans too well. And for you is a way weaker option that your regular picks Artur and Alena.

Each person has a different pecking order of players.
NONE of us know how good or bad Malcom is, yet we are asking for him to play and to get chances.
People will reply: well, your EV played Gomes last season, and that proves how dumb is EV.
Well, on the other hand, EV didn't play Deulofeu, Digne, Paco, Denis, Mina and those were quite logical decisions since they suck.
So, in 1 case EV was wrong and in other 5 cases he was right for not playing certain players.

Malcom could turn out to be EV's mistake.
But it is quite possible that we will very soon find out that he is another Paco or Deulofeu. An ok player, but not good enough for Barca and a coach have seen that on training grounds from the day1.

We'll find out the answer in upcoming Months.

1. Valverde is like Trump. Coming up with new shit everyday to surprise us.

2. It's like he's playing chicken with Barto doing one stupid thing after another. Too bad Barto is spineless.

3. Clear sign of Valverde throwing tantrums that he didn't get Willian by treating Malcom worse than garbage.

4. Can't wait to see how Valverde cheerleaders defend this

He should have been sacked as soon as the squad was announced

We'd be undefeated with Trump as manager, all he does is win

This guy wanted Willian over Malcom. And you trust his judgement

It seems his fanboys have conveniently forgotten the pity sub for Gomes

"But but he didn't want Malcom" another one in the hall of fame for apologies for Valverde

Man if only Malcom got half as many chances as Gomes/Pique to prove himself

Defending the inclusion of someone like Denis over Malcom is the height of fanboyism. It seems you are part of the supreme leader Valverde's cult who can do no wrong.

Shades of Trump and his supporters

The thing with Valverde is that he not just has a pecking order, its more about how this usually means completely ignoring the players who aren't his favorites until he suddenly throws them on the team a couple times out of nowhere. And on top of that he likes to play players in weird positions like he did with Paco on the wings (like Lucho did too), Cou on RW or now Malcom on LW. I mean how can you even expect decent performances under these circumstances?

Also Valverde doesn't make any player better at all. Or even helps them with tactic. He just plays the good/old players and expects them to carry thats just so disappointing. I don't actually remember how he did at Athletic but coaches there are usually forced to develop so i don't think he is completely incapable of doing so be it looks like he just doesn't care. I mean after all thats also part of his job. We bought Malcom and Arthur for 80M and promoted Alena for a reason but i can't see Valverde actually contributing to their development here.

Same with Dembele, he only seems to focus on defense and just plays him because he has to and Dembele has quality but that guy has so much raw talent that will never get utilized.

Like i get what you are talking about and also your general "our players are all overrated" but don't you think its suspicious that none of our players seem to get better, that the tactics don't really seem to fit most of them, we saw like no development at all for almost a year now etc? Other coaches make their players look better, in our case its just Messi making Valverde look less bad. Even if Arthur isn't the next Xavi, Dembele might not be a future balon d'or winner and Malcom might just be a 2nd class winger i just can't believe that its impossible to play better football with this squad and make our players look better than they currently do.

Valverde basically doesn't add anything to this team. Boring sideway and back passes, getting bailed out by Messi over and over again and as soon you're in the lead turtle up no matter who the opponent is - idk man but i think many managers would be capable of playing like this. He's just average and i don't think his mindset fits a big club and especially Barca. "Barca DNA" just because he was here for a short time, going by that Mathieu could be our coach in 10 years lol

He might have a reason to exclude Malcom again and again, but it surely looks weird doesn't it?

It's tiresome to read swathes of posts by constantly same groups of the 'professionally outraged' that latch onto any decision of the manager in the current climate. If there was a video where Valverde farted on the training ground people would probably be writing about him trying to poison his players, literally this time. What a bunch of sheepism

But there is none of that of course, This weekly drama all comes down to, That Malcom is one of our new shiny ‘toys’, And like any new shiny ‘toy’, They want to see it in action, No tactical rationales or criteria needs to be made or met, They want malcom, Because they want Malcom.

Aside the tactical side of things, I think it's even simpler - dude hasn't done anything to deserve to be a part of the team. He came in as a talented player with a decent price tag that people thought would be an immediate fix to the team's fugly style. Nowt more. That's the rationale as to why he should even be getting game time. Over the other side of the barricade it's the same crowd of hyenas howling on about Vinicius and along the same lines calling Ceballos a 'dumb player'. There are a plenty of talented players who make the move and don't hack it. Pedro Leon, Nuri Sahin, whole herds of Brazillian players across Europe, even Zlatan under Pep. Managers have their reasons and if I was Valverde I'd probably go with my instinct too, certainly not change my mind about the player because the Camp Nou crowd doesn't like what they're seeing.

EV is just Mourinho 2.0 and is melting down in the same way this season well.

Much like Mou, EV doesn't rely on young players, he just takes established players, makes them play cagey football and hopes it works out in the end.

Before you tell me "then why is Dembele playing?" Ask yourself this, if a 34 year Iniesta was still here, who from our starting XI would be the first one out to accommodate Iniesta?

The likes of Arthur, Malcolm and Alena (and to further extent Dembele and Semedo) a wont ever shine under EV. They don't fit his vision for what a player playing for a top club should be.

Luckily we got people like you and garrus on the other side of the pendulum that accept everything they get handed out by everyone no matter how big that pile of shit is like a bunch of cucks. So thanks for balancing out the "outrage".

Bad example, because sadly 34 years old Iniesta would make this team better than current 21 years old Dembele, he is thouroughly missed atm specially when with Coutinho a bit in no man's land regarding his position.

Yet to understand what Valverde has done to deserve the benefit of doubt Zidane got when he benched Ceballos or Pep when he benched other players.

Also I don't think anyone here believes Malcom is a saviour that will make Barca play outstanding football and trash every opponent, but you have to give players like that some continuity. Doubt it helps a player to be playing one day and then be out of the squad for the next three games.

He hasn't deserved a spot yet? Well, what has Denis done to deserve a spot in the squad? He's been here for some time now and showed what? Very little. Forget Malcom, but what about Alena? Valverde says a lot about trusting talent and wanting to give them chances, but his actions doesn't reflect his choice of words.
