Adrien Rabiot

He will be an alright signing but we cannot compete in CL with such players when your competitors have much better midfield. We need better players. Our midfield is no where near good enough to competent in CL. Especially when Coutinho best position is on the wing. Rakitic cannot play every match and be consistent. One world class signing is a must no matter what people think. Rabiot is definitely not that player.

Yeah but who is? Except Thiago (who is injury prone) and maybe Rabiot there are basically no available midfielders. :(

There are good players but none available. Maybe pay that 70M rumoured asking price for Thiago. Next season we will need a striker too, better to go all out on midfield this season. If we don't then all hope on Arthur making a good impact. What is the situation on Eriksen contact? Madrid has Modric, Kroos and Isco. While barca has only rakitic who is still not as good as those three but can be mentioned in the same sentence. Rest of our midfield is no where in picture excluding busi ofc who is a DM.

Eriksen has contract until 2020. If we want to get him maybe next year we’ll have a chance but this year it won’t happen.

He has a poor work ethic. We need to recruit players who are more responsible mentally. Arthur looks like his head is in the right place, for instance. When it comes to Rabiot, everyone knows he is somewhat a brat. We have already had too many passengers in these years in Arda, Denis, Gomes and Paco. Barca need players who give a shit.

The most realistic options for Barca are: Jorginho, Rabiot, Gundogan, Fekir, or Thiago.

Everyone else will be either too expensive or their club will refuse to sell.

All those guys cost more than 50 M€.

Chelsea asked 80 M€.
Same price for Thiago in Bayern.
Jorginho, i don't find him so good.
Pjanic it's a 60 M€ deal
Millinkovic Savic cost 60 M€
Gundogan maybe a 40 M€ deal ..
Fekir is possible but he is a 10, not an 8.

Other palyers are not in the market.

So Rabiot is good option, still young, i think Paris will let him go for 40 M€ because he only has 1 year left of contract.

Gundogan is not an option, no way! Fekir on the other hand is probably not on the required level so you are basically left with Rabiot and Thiago and that's it. Regaring Jorginho I don't know what to think about him since I never really followed him but I doubt 26y old player from Napoli with only 8 caps for Italy is a solution.

If you take into consideration that Thiago is injured 24/7 I can understand why we might be trying to sign Rabiot. He is basically the ONLY (below 150 mil) choice we have.

I am also not entirely happy with Rabiot but I would take him over Milinkovic Savic any day of the week.

Jorginho is off to City.

Anyway, there are many different type of players on that list so we should first decide what are we really looking for. People here have different opinions about that but we don't really know what Barça plans to do.

I also don't understand why we should only consider buying players from top clubs when their price is already high. We should rather try to find "our own" Kante (maybe someone like Ndidi), so a player who is not already in rich top clubs and would be easier to get. Yes, signings like this are risky (but we can say the same about more or less any big money signing) and are not worldclass (but not all of the players on that list above are either) yet (and might never become) but if we're looking for workhorses then we should consider findings those type of players in smaller clubs.

Or on the other hand going after players with expiring contracts which as I've mentioned some time ago I don't think we're doing enough. Rabiot is one of them so I'm happy we're at least considering him though I don't know if he's really what we need and I also have some concerns about his character. Another question is if he really wants to come here or is just using our interest to get a better contract with PSG. And in case he wants to join Barça it's still unlikely PSG would sell him to us and there are probably no chances they would let his contract to run out so we could get him on free next year.

I still think it was a mistake not going more seriously after Fabian Ruiz, especially when his clause was just 15M a few months ago but even later with 30M I think he'd be worth a risk. It's too late now though and we'll see how he'll do in a different league and a better/bigger team but I think he would bring us physicality which we are currently again lacking after Paulinho's gone but at the same time he's also technically better.

Wasn t Fekir on his way to Lpool?

Regarding Thiago...i m wondering why Pep isn t interested, he brought him to Bayern, why not to City?

From this list my favorite target would be Kante. I wouldn t mind 70-80 mil price tag. Than Rabiot (if cheap), than Eriksen (not over 80 mil).

In my opinion, we should go all out for Pogba. He and Mourinho don't see eye-to-eye, and that makes me believe we have a real chance. Not only is he an incredible talent, but adding him to our squad increases our chances of signing Mbappé in 2-3 years -surely he will pick us, and not Madrid, when we have Pogba, Dembélé and Umtiti.

Nassar is going to hold firm I bet.

He would rather risk losing him for free than selling him I reckon.
