It's not really a fact, they are more successful than Barca but I wouldn't say more prestigious. Our greatest teams captured the imagination in a way this Real side and others have failed to do.

Yes, but the term club refers more to the institution. Real Madrid is a bigger brand and a bigger football club than Barcelona historically, as in overall. Sure, probably Pep's Barca is the greatest team ever, unplayable at their peak (I'd say the 5-0 vs Madrid was the most one sided game I've seen), but overall, Madrid are the leading club in terms of achievements, which, let's face it, is a big part of what qualifies as prestige. Barca has a different type of appeal and it's history is also quite different than Madrid's.

You'd have to concede overall that the more prestigious club is the one who did the greater things over time. And that's Madrid.

This whole season all I hear from opposition fans is "Liverpool will get found out" or "it's a purple patch", "They will never win it", "They' go out in the next round", "they'll lose to man city" "roma will be very difficult for them" blah blah blah, and yet here we are with 1 foot in the CL final as the highest scoring team in the Cl by some distance, having scored 5 goals minimum vs every single team we've played in the CL this season. People are seriously underestimating and disrespectful to this team, but I watch every single Liverpool game and lots of Real Madrid games and can say for certain it will not be so easy for Real as everyone is making out. Real leave lots of spaces in their defence, especially as their FB's like to bomb forward, which will be Perfect for Salah, Mane and Firmino.

Relax Barca fans, their name is not on the trophy already without a good fight

I think it will be a very interesting final if it does end up being Liverpool/Madrid.

Madrid have won all of their last finals against heavily defence oriented teams (Atletico, Juve) that were generally quite poor attacking Madrid and sat back, whereas Liverpool are the complete opposite and press the hell out of opponents and are extremely efficient and fluid in attack.

Definitely looking forward to seeing Liverpool bring a new dimension to the final that we haven't seen against Madrid.

Yes absolutely, it's the same as Man city this season where every team sat back and let them have the ball because of fear which is why they were hardly challenged all season, but we showed that if you take the game to them and show no fear then they can't handle it, and we ended up beating them 3 times in a row. I'm not saying we will beat Real but for certain it's not going to be easy for Real at all like 90% of football fans think

Is Real a bigger brand, based on what?

Definition of prestige from Oxford dictionary "widespread respect and admiration felt for someone or something on the basis of a perception of their achievements or quality."

I don't think Real are more respected or admired than Barca, i would say the opposite. They are not bigger either, Barca are more popular worldwide always have been. Real is a winning machine but there are many things more admirable than trophies and Barca display these qualities more than Madrid do. So no Real Madrid are not more prestigious nor are they a bigger club just more successful.

I can't believe Barca fans are calling Madrid a more prestigious club.

Not seen a Liverpool fan around here before, nice there is one now at least.
As far as i can see, Liverpool is already in the final, as there is no way they wont score in Rome.
If we do make it to the final, i think it will be quite entertaining, because lets face it, neither Liverpool or RM(this season) cant really defend.

You have bigger goalscoring threats than us, as in, your entire front trio is scoring goals left, right and centre, we can get goals without Ronaldo(as seen today), but we rely mostly on him for the goals in the end. Would be a tough match, have to say though, Klopps record in finals really is lacking.

You stand no chance, sorry to disappoint you. Porto you can beat by 5 goals. It's a Europa League team. Roma the same (despite the fact we embarrassed ourselves, they remain an EL level team). Against Man City you can also do well because Klopp's style is very well suited to counter Guardiola's, no coach has a better record against Pep than Klopp.

Real Madrid? No chance. They can score by sitting deep, pressing high, counterattacks, set plays, individual brilliance, last minute never die attitude comebacks - and if nothing else helps, the ref will be there to give a subtle helping hand to them where 50:50 penalties or offsides will be called in their favour but never in yours. The chances of Salah pulling his harmstring after 5 minutes are also like 80 % according to my calculations.

I congratulate you to your enjoyable (despite trophyless) season and see you again next year in the competition.

Much love.

Not sure what the basis of your claim that we have always been more popular than Real Madrid in the world is. Real Madrid won more trophies (both league and the CL) with 5 CLs in the row last century. Their Galaticos star-studded teams attracted a lot of fans around the world before Ronaldinho and later Messi grew our fanbase exponentially. I actualky think we are a relatively late comer in terms of European prestige compared to old powerhouses such as real, bayern, Liverpoo, the Serie A clubs.

its a young man`s world in this shit.. you cant win this with the iniestas and the riberys and the robbens.. unless you bring with you that chealsea2012 luck charm. this is not the 80`s, physicality is crucial. only when assured could talent prevail. you can allow an oldie here in there, particularly in the9 position or at defense, but in midfield, wings and fullbacks, old timers would simply get destroyed.

Popularity is not all about trophies, Celtic have always been more popular than Rangers, Man Utd always more popular than Liverpool and Barca more popular than Real

How can you say we are late comers in European prestige and behind Liverpool and Bayern at that? Come on. It's always been Barca and Real since the 50s, Real were more successful but Barca were always the romantics choice. These two clubs have been head and shoulders above all the others for decades and we have Barca fans like you saying it's only a recent phenomenon, unbelievable.

There is no data to suggest Real had more fans, it wasn't measured until recently and Barca finished top. Barca sell more shirts and have more fans on social media so I don't understand why so many Barca fans in this forum want us to believe Real are a bigger and better club, they aren't now and have never been.

This is a bit exaggerated. Bayern today outshot RM 17-7, a vast majority of which were point blank chances that could easily have ended up in the goal. Liverpool's attack this season is, without a single doubt, superior to Bayern. And they also excel most at scoring in transition/counter which RM is weakest at defending. And Salah right now is in a level of form that no Bayern player can dream of touching. Before this game they were dominated by Juve who were also able to feast on defensive lapses against them.

RM will have several great chances against Liverpool for sure, but it will be the same the other way around. I expect this (potential) final to be a straight up shootout and the team that is more clinical on the day will go home victors. RM being the epxerienced champions they are have the bigger advantages and are easily the favorites, but Liverpool's chance is higher than people make it seem. I certainly think they are a better matchup against RM than Juve was last year, and I think this is the most cohesive/on form offense that RM has faced in the CL in the past 3 years outside of maybe this Heynckes Bayern side (who collectively were great today despite the defensive mistakes and poor finishing). Overall one of the most interesting tests they will have had in a while.
