Andres Iniesta

He was the best midfielder in our Madrid game no doubt. The thing is though that he isn't fit to play every game religiously as EV has been doing this season, plus he is frustrating as hell with his finishing. In the Champions League Iniesta's command and experience will add a lot of value to us. In la liga he can be a super sub or something .. but the guy is not fit to play as a starter every game like Busquets for example. Coutinho in the other hand probably will be soon.

Does anyone think that, now that Coutinho is here, we can use Iniesta in the Xavi role in some matches? I think he can do a better job than almost all other mids for us in that role.

Coutinho rarely played 90 minutes with Liverpol. Ateast it felt like Klopp always changed him at some point. I assume Valverde will do the same, change Coutinho to Iniesta.

Xavi role is next season imo. We need him in match rhythm for Champions League ties.

He actually has a couple of seasons at top level before getting to 2014/15 Xavi role imo.

And hello again Barcaforum. First post since 2012 or 13 I presume.

I think he's injured. I'm sure he would've started otherwise, he didn't even warm up when we were down.

Edit: Andrés Iniesta didn't play or warm up today in Anoeta as a precaution. Valverde had only planned to play him if it was strictly necessary [rac1]

Coutinho can't play CL. And Don can transition to Xavi role from next season when Coutinho has settled in.

they said he'll miss the next matches, but how long will he be out? hoping nothing is serious or else we are getting fucked with that gomes-paulinho-rakitic midfield

His injury worries me more than Dembele's.
He'll be crucial for the CL.
There's a reason why we bought Coutinho in January even if he can't play in the CL and it's because of reasons like this. sure Coutinho is injured and won't be back for another week or two but still the best option we have to rotate Iniesta to prevent him from having injuries so he can be fresh for the CL.
