The point is not to talk about names, our scouts should have a good knowledge about different markets. The point is that we should reinforce the midfield, and we cant expect Alena to do that for us when he has shown so little and Valverde shows no trust in him.

Think you're very mistaken regarding Alena here. The squad at this stage is just to large, particularly in midfield, to give him the opportunities he deserves but he trains with the first team more than he does with the B team.

In his interview over the holidays he placed emphasis on Alena, Arnaiz and Oriol in particular. If we can clean house then I expect Alena to play more. Much more.

Alena was together with Arnaiz our best player in B team this season so I don't agree that he has shown very little. This kid is young, he is developing fine and gradually and I believe he will be fine. Whether he could reach the level of Thiago it's early to say but I believe he has great potential. Watching him only on US tour it was obvious this is the kid with some serious talent. One of the reasons he can't get any chance is the fact that our midfield is crowded nut that should be settled until next summer.

Not a lot of people watched the preseason games. Alena was fantastic in them... He was always looking for the ball.

The most annoying thing is the fact that people expect from Celta, Sevilla, Villareal, Valencia etc. to develop our players! Sending your brightest talents on the loan is just wrong. You have to develop them by yourself. Why would anyone care about a 20 year old player who will go back home in one year time? What do they get from developing him? At 19 or 20 years of age if you are not Messi you won't matter to anyone who won't profit from you in the later stage of your career. Loan makes sense only when you are not sure about a player so you loan him for one or two years to make sure if he might develop in the end. If you truly believe in a young player you should never loan him and you should make sure he develops properly under your command.

Clubs obviously care about winning so thats why poorer clubs loan players who are better than what they have. It happens all the time. If Alena is not good enough for Sevila and Valencia, then we obviously should not loan him to them.
