10 - Lionel Messi - v5

C'mon in 20 years do you really think the kiddies are going think Messi was greater? They'll just look at the trophies and individual awards and see Ronaldo has more. Even if they go on YouTube and watch highlights of both of them they won't be able to tell Messi is better since Ronaldo has a shit ton of dribbles and great individual moments from his United days which will be enough to amaze them.

Little will they know Ronaldo was just a a wasteful step over machine at United and a mere poacher at Madrid that relied on service to pad his numbers.

Still, there are countless of quotes on the internet to be found of pundits and football players of the same era explaining why Messi was better than Ronaldo. Even players that played together with Ronaldo.
I think in 50 years time if you would let a kid loose on the internet to do research on the subject of Messi vs Ronaldo he would have to conclude that the majority of folks who actually witnessed both play thought Messi to be the better player.

Some cunts in Argentina destroyed his statue for a 2nd time.

Absolute morons; they won't realize how good they had it until he retires and their NT fades into mediocrity.

This is just sad...are they forgetting the fact that he single-handedly sent them to the World Cup just over a month ago?

To be fair, these are likely random hooligans as Argentina's impression of Messi is not as bad as it used to be. I have encountered a lot of Argentinians who are willing to admit Messi is better than Maradona. They also think Maradona turned into a huge clown.

No wonder they can't win shit despite having some of the best players in the world for the past 23 years. Ungrateful cunts!

Even after cutting off his legs, he still has the ball at his feet! Just Messi things. The GOAT.

CR Jr. posted "thank you my idol Messi".

Nice gesture by CR7's kid if he truly posted that himself.

Also why in the world does Ronaldo allow his 7 year old kid to have an Instagram account? All it's going to do is fuck him up in the head.

I see kids with cellphones all the time and ask myself the same question. Maybe I should seek out their parents and slap them upside the head.

He looked much better against Celta than his average in previous months. He also ran more, but still, he was specifically rested for this game and still only covered about 70% of the distance Aspas did (who is the same age).

I don't mind so much that he wants other players to creat or that his defensive effort is limited, but I do believe that when he's involved in more plays (for lack of a better word), the things he tries generally work out more, too. I think this comes down to overthinking and anxiety, something we know he can be prone to. When he's not involved in much general play, he really wants to make it count when he finally gets the ball. He forces it. He picks passes for runs that aren't timed well and then executes those passes way worse than two/three years ago. When he's in front of goal, he's sometimes hesitant and overthinking the finish.

My point is, that I think when he generally runs more and is involved in more, that's when things start to flow more naturally and that's when he trusts his instincts because he doesn't think too much about the specific situation he's in.
