Yeah we will be back...
Only when the board is replaced to the people who actually cares about football and wants to restore Cruyff's legacy.
Barça will also need Pep's heirs like Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Busi etc. to help the club restore its footballing project and philosophy.
I assume it will take more than 5 years to fully restore our philosophy.
Yes we might luckily win a major trophy during that time but that's not what is important.

Barca needs to evolve on the pitch like Real have. Stop clinging on to 4-3-3 every week.

The only way Barca can get back on track is by bringing through top young talent both from La Masia and from outside the club like Real have. Stop making pointless buys like Arda and Paulinho. Money that could go on top young talent.

Barca's era is over, it's done. The transition has to start now.

Look, Paulinho doesn't have any fault in this situation. Of course he'd come and be over the moon.

It's just problematic to me, that we are signing a bunch of workhorse midfielders. Barcelona set the trend with a specific type of ball retaining, and creating midfielders with Busi, Xavi and Iniesta. Madrid was the one using workhorses like Khedira, Diarra, and even Pepe in midfield. The problem is, Madrid has too much money and attractive power. They saw that the footballing trend was to have ball retaining midfielders, with quick center backs to press high. So they bought all the best players for this philosophy (Modric, Kroos, Isco, Varane..). We used to make fun of Madrid because they would splash money and still lose. Guess what? Splashing money and buying all the best players eventually works. It was just a matter of our star players declining. Obviously Madrid have the merit of having way better scouting than us. To pinch Varane from Lens, Carvajal from Leverkusen..Marcelo from Fluminense.

If Barça want to compete with Madrid, Bayern and others, we need to identify the next best 'ball retainers' in center of the field. Letting go of Thiago was a huge mistake. Insigne, Pjanic, Verratti.. These would be a good start.

Imo, it is not that simple.

Real's midfielders aren't only good at keeping the ball. They are very fast and mobile and not too weak physically (except Modric).

Our board doesn't understand that there are a few areas to look for.
They would probably buy Pjanic (very slow) or some 160cm tall ballkeeper.

I mean, even Arda, Iniesta and Busi can keep the ball well.
But since they can't run or win any physical duels (especially Busi and Iniesta), so they can't dominate anymore.

Paulinho isn't good because he is not too technical.
But then, neither short, weak and slow technical midfielders aren't good enough for era 2017-2020.

A new era requires both technical skills and a lot of pace, stamina and other phisycal skills which weren't too important 10, 20 or 30 years ago.

Surprised to see your knowledge of Cruyffism is only limited to 4-3-3 (or mere tiki-taka I assume?).
Barça's second gold era (since 2008) is surely done. That's why it needs to rebuild and restore its foundation through Cruyffism.

Literally I'm ROFL right now. Barto was totally exposed after this show and he is close to overcoming Joan Gaspart as the worst president in modern times.

No, but we can't just go back to thinking 4-3-3 and keeping possession will solve everything. We've been found out for years and getting by on Messi's brilliance.

We had arguably the best generation of academy graduates through one club in the history of the game, including the game's greatest ever player. Pep's era was the peak of it and he got the most out of it.

That team have either gone or are over 30 and we don't have a bottomless pit of money or even the ability to be able to sign the likes of Verratti. The club need to move on to be successful again soon.

The fact is Barca are hopeless at transfers and have been for so long. La Masia was the leveller with Real Madrid as we got great players for free. That's gone now.

Even Casemiro surprised me last week. I saw him taking the ball and then driving forward going past players with speed and agility. I had no idea he could do that. He's become a super player.

Yeah, that surprised me too. Even Real's supposedly limited players are better than our mids! (With the exception of Busquets whom I still rate very highly when utilised correctly, and Iniesta who maybe isn't what he was, but whom I will always love for what he's given.)
