Neymar Jr. - v5

Continue please. What about Messi's contract?

I try to be not submerging in conspiracy theories.
But just as others have said, his contract should have been signed after his return from Argentina and there must be, could be, should be, ought to be a reason behind that, which may or may not be related to the present situation.

I think (just think) that Messi's word alone worth as much as the rest of the team's, thus - if he wants - he can use his influence on many pending matters. Not signing by the announced time shows that something has been happening behind the doors. I have no clue what, there could be many things in the present situation...

MSN have scored 364 goals in 3 seasons, if the midfield was better they should've won 3 consecutive trebles with it, rather than just the 1 and nothing big last season except copa.

To assume every player is a money hungry as Neymar who is going to accept massive money to play outside of the top 4 leagues in Europe is completely untrue when there is so much evidence against it already.

it's just way too easy to declare that Neymar (or anyone else in his present situation) is a jerk and a money-hungry machine of male-part.
We are talking about an offer which is more than TWICE as much as someone ever payed for a player. This is an exceptional situation, and exceptionally hard decision for ANY player, as there are offers very hard to refuse if one thinks by a rational mind.

If someone offered you today five times more than you have ever earned in your entire life, you would also at least start thinking hesitating, etc.
Folks here try to talk about Neymar being an ass to hesitate but they always forget that this is a historical amount that only a selected few could refuse for different reasons...

You might as well have. Because it makes no sense to compare Neymar's situation to that of the players you mentioned.

Read better next time.

His statement was that most players are as money hungry as Neymar, which in itself, is completely untrue.

Likewise, it's extremely bold and completely presumptuous to think Neymar is only considering the move for the money.

Actually, it's a perfectly rational assumption to make.

PSG is a step down from FCB (bigly) Only reason to do such a thing would be a hefty monetary reward. There's absolutely nothing else there.

for his father its obviously about money but for Neymar? theres more to it than that imo. at PSG he can be the main man, everything will be going through him. without disrespecting PSG I do think its a high paying stepping stone in his mind though as the PL is surely his end goal.

I don't think Ligue 1 will be enough for him and once he wins a CL at PSG what next? the funny part though is when he signs with PSG, him and daddy will learn the same lesson Verratti did.

There is certainly a level of greed with it which is why people are hating on him. Others (like me) are mad about the situation that he is putting the club in.

If I'm solely looking at this move from a financial POV for Neymar's gain, then sure it's an exceptional situation for him.

But Neymar is moving from the best league in the world, from one of the best teams in the world who compete for the most elite trophies in football club to a league that is outside of the best and to a club that is doped financially with oil-money that doesn't carry the prestige of playing for a club like Barca.

Neymar's financial gain has some pretty big sporting trade-offs that I'm sure quite a few players would not go for.

You're welcome

I think the rational assumption would be that there are more factors at play here than just one. It's possible Neymar fears his legacy of never being able to win Balon d'Or next to Messi. Maybe he wants the prestige of 'carrying a team', which is very hard to obtain at Barca as long as Messi is playing.

To us PSG is a stepdown. But what if Neymar is told of a project of signing x and y player and having been convinced that with his help the CL can be won.

He could always have a release clause in his contract

I don't think he will be getting out of France if he goes there. They can milk PSG for massive financial gain which is what his father will pressure Neymar to do.
