Barca Transfers and Rumors

Coutinho - Yes. He fits the Barca style well, and has high quality. The problem is his best positions is occupied by Neymar.
Verratti - Has never seemed Barca-type to me. Many of the best players are not right for Barca.
2 different players. Coutinho is an AM, Verratti is a CM. Could do well together though in Iniesta and Xavi roles. Would rather have Bernardo Silva instead of Coutinho though.

Typical stuff during NT break. Nothing is going on and they have to sell papers so they come out with those stories. Of course they were helped with Griezmann's words that he could play in Barça or RM in the future. Don't think it's very likely though. When he'll leave Atletico he'll go to EPL or maybe PSG.

Robert already dismissed that in an interview he gave today.

That's expected. Even if he'd be talking with Allegri he wouldn't confirm that publicly, especially now before we play against Juve. That said, I think Allegri rumours are just BS from Italian media. He has 8M clause IIRC and I don't see us pay that. And based on other Robert's answers in that interview I believe it's 99% he has already decided Unzue will be our next coach.

Massimiliano Allegri podría ser el reemplazo de Luis Enrique en el banquillo del Barcelona https://goo.gl/isDvOP

Such rumors often happen when a team is facing another top team in last stages of a CL.
Very likely we will have a lot of Dybala rumors in upcoming days, and maybe regarding some other random Juve's player.

Then those rumors will just disappear when a CL tie will finish.

Classic.

I watch a lot of Liverpool, Coutinho has struggled this season, particularly since his injury, not sure I want him.

I would take Coutinho in a heart beat. He has the type of ability on the ball that only Iniesta has outwith Messi and Neymar.

He could play anywhere across the attacking mid positions and is good with both feet.

Has been off the boil for a while now but doesnt look fit or maybe distracted by potential Barca move!

Still need to upgrade other areas of team but having Coutinho would help the front three more than any player there at moment does.

I think for Coutinho to fit in Messi has to move back to RW which I don't think it would happen,he hasn't really been playing there for quit long time now.
In 3-4-3 he won't fit with Messi,in 4-3-3 that has Messi as AM he doesn't fit either,In 4-3-3 that has no true right winger an Messi as no10 like we were playing b4 switching to 3-4-3 Coutinho still doesn't fit. In all of those cases AM isn't needed.

I like Coutinho, but his place here under these conditions would be instead of Neymar. Would be like signing Hazard to play him in midfield. It would be just too many players who would have the tendency to go up and not hold their position.

I'd rather push hard for Koke if Simeone leaves. Or get Bernardo Silva.

Fans need to get off this 3-4-3 thing, it will not work long term, it's only a temporary solution to a permanent problem of Messi's evolution to a AM.

We will go back to a back 4, whether is be a 4-3-3 or what I believe is better as it relates to balance, in a 4-2-3-1.

Having two pure DMs and Messi ahead of them in a 4231 will make us very predictable. The opposition will man mark Messi like crazy.

Who said 2 pure DAM this is Barca not a Jose team.

We can get one more defensive oriented midfield and free up busquets.

Or a Thiago type to play beside him, but at no point do I expect a masch-busquests type midfield

Also we could play with two DM, if we have a class player on the right, and two quality FB who can get forward, with all those played getting forward at the right time, it's impossible they could crowd out messi.

Those double pivot would also be needed to provide cover in such a system.

Anyway it's implement the 4-2-3-1 would be the best fit, because with any other system, messi would still start on the right and the vacate that space the moment the game behinds, which only serves to compound the problem.

Here he starts in the middle and we still keep the natural with in the team.

Indeed. With thé right transfers this is a interesting formation.

Yea a pity the board will most likely make the wrong decisions as it relates to the coach and players this off season.

But If it were me, this is what I would do.

The team needs 3 players, a RB,MD and WF, we can't get all in one window, so this is how I would go about it.

Option 1.

Keep Vidal for one more season, he as been showing promise before his injury.

Invest in heavily in a Class midfielder & RF

Or option 2

Rotate the 2nd person in the double pivot, between Roberto, iniesta and rarely masch/samper if we returns.

A busquets-iniesta pivot can do in 90% of the games we play.

Buy a top MD & RF.

Which ever option you pick, a RF is a most, then it's a matter of prioritizing the RB or CM for this off season.

But this board being dumb as shit will try to sign a RB & MD.
