I wonder how much the Chinese would pay for him?

He's basically the 'Made in China' version of Neuer so I'd imagine he'd fit right in there.

which i did a long time before there was any talk of one leaving. It wasn't a stable situation and Bravo was never the long term choice.

Precisely. No facts, just headcanon. Of course Bravo wasn't the long term choice, he was on the wrong side of 30 when he was signed. But the actual facts say he was the one who demanded to leave, not that "We sold Bravo to keep Mats happy" as is so often being thrown around.

Bravo was sold to make Bravo happy, not Mats. This is a fact. Everything else exists in your own mind.

What's with this thread being all up everytime Barca looses? Two pretty unsavable goals, don't you have bigger issues to worry about? Like "how the fuck did they even get these chances in the first place"? Obviously Ter Stegen isn't some worldly goalkeeping relevation and has his fuck ups which justify debates, but why always this kneejerk no matter of how the goals actually looked like or wether they are actual goalkeeping fails?

I really don't get it... Both were pretty much unsavable..unless some kind of dumb luck. But MAtS is getting hammered here instead of defenders?

Mats is almost never at fault, all things considered. I still don't believe we'd be doing any better if we had the best keeper in the world in the squad right now, which is how I've been able to ignore his performances for this long because, well, he's always been my guy.

But that doesn't mean he's playing up to snuff. He needs to be more aggressive in many situations and in others he'd do well to at least make an effort to stop shots that seem impossible to save. Even sticking an arm out in vain goes a long way.

2nd goal was totally unblamable on him and the first one was still nowhere near a blunder. "Could have done better" would suit better. He had left the far post for the defender to mark and the near post in case the low cross came near the player rushing there and scores it. Could have positioned a bit better but that would be it.

A compilation of Mats' saves in a 2016/17 season:

Does anyone remember, when was the last time he saved a shot?
I remember one save against Osasuna, I think.

Did he make any other save in this whole season?
I am not kidding...

It's intriguing. He went downhill so fast. Nothing like the gk from his 1st season.

We didn't have time to see him exposed in such a low amount of games in a 1st season.
Even Bayern at Camp Nou had 0 shots on goal, right?

1. team had a great momentum back then
2. Mats played a low amount of matches
3. opponents didn't shoot too much against us
4. he played 3-4 good matches in a row
= and a premature legend about Mats, a keeper for the next 48 years was born

We will all be smarter the next time, I guess.

Again same shit in this thread. Terrible, pathetic reactions from our players in defense and you blame Ter Stegen. Look at that first goal ffs, look at our players and what they do, look how Aduriz gets to the ball totally unmarked while our players watch him like spectators. And yet you blame Ter Stegen. Unbeliveable.

Sorry I stumbled upon your crusade, I never paid any attention to it before. You don't have a mind for nuance, sadly. If you can't handle the FACT that the move accomodated both GKs, you can build your dream world in your own mind, too !

It was not just about the goals. He misplaced passes and held on to the ball for too long before deciding to kick it far anyway. Between that and players like Busquets also screwing up passes, you don't feel safe at all anymore watching them play it out from the back.
