Vertoghen, Agger, Luiz - what do they all have in common, they are left footed, over 6 feet and can play CB and LB. So it's what we are looking for.

When has Luiz ever proved he can play left back? Even Agger I cant ever really remember him proving he can play there.

Another thing they have in common: they're all at clubs that desperately need them and have no financial issues forcing them to sell. The chance to get Vertonghen was when he was at Ajax and available for years. Spurs was his last resort, and now that he's thriving there, Levy won't sell. Roman doesn't need the money either so Luiz won't go, and Agger has YNWA tattooed on his knuckles.

Besides, why go for all these high profile defenders? Doesn't Barca have a scouting network? I'm sure the 4 big leagues have loads of midtable clubs with a top class CB for sale at the right price.

Good question, but you could answer it by yourself. Just think about when it was the last time when Barcelona signed a player, who's not already high profile. Someone like Varane, Nastasic, Marquinhos or Courtois.

And I don't count Keirrison and Henrique, because I still think it was some messed up business with the Traffic Agency and they were never really scouted. Maybe the last one was Afellay, but even he was already high profile for the dutch league. So, do we have a scouting network?

Steffensen (agent Agger): "Daniel has a contract for three years and it'd be up to the clubs to agree a fee in order for that to change."

Looks like he's our fourth centre back. He spent too much time injured last season so I don't know if this is good business from the club.
Sounds like the price is around 15m euro.
