Suarez, Falcao, Cavani, Lewandowski, every number nine is overrated. They're all good, quality players, but all can get shut out and become completely useless. They aren't dynamic enough to contribute with anything besides goals, and as a result spend many a match looking completely invisible.

And  @ people saying most of Cavani's goals are tap-ins. Watch Serie A more often, please.
lol

From the 29 goals he scored in Serie A, 8 are tap-ins and 6 are penalties - it makes almost half of his goals. The rest is some headers and one vs one situations created by some great passes served on a golden tray.

Is this worth 60M? Never.

van Persie, Suarez, Lewandowski, they all say hi
Falcao is better than those 3. Give Lewandowski more time and I might change my mind.

This is ridiculous. Like Meitux said, you'd rather every team played with a false 9?? Are you saying that a team does not need strikers?

That's just like when people say "Messi needs Xavi and Iniesta to score", it makes no sense. Every forward in the world needs service and Cavani had the movement to be in those places and score those goals.

He's definitely not better than van Persie. I'd say they're on the same level.

That's not the point. The thing is, he's not worth the money that Napoli are asking.

I know that every forward needs service but his fee is just ridiculous. I mean, Robin van Persie moved to utd for £24m after scoring 36 goals for Arsenal and now Cavani will most probably move to Chelsea/RM for 60M after scoring 38 goals in a much worse club and leauge. That's ridiculous.

Agree to disagree.

You were talking about the quality of the goals, that's what DonAndres was referring to. About the fee I agree to a point. I think Utd got RVP at a bargain- especially taking into consideration the deals being made recently, and Cavani being younger will have a higher price tag.
Also don't you think being in a worse team and scoring that many goals is more impressive too?

Barcelona with Messi at false nine :pep:

No, I'm saying those strikers are overrated compared to players in other positions. Perhaps this is because of the media, but strikers get way too much credit when they don't offer nearly as much as people say.

Am i alone in thinking hes massively overrated? from watching him i get the distinct impression he needs a team and style of football completely built around him as well as being the lone striker for every chance to fall for him to be effective? he looks a very good player for Napoli but consistently looks rank average for Uruguay, my thought is its because Uruguay have other great strikers and arent simply focused on playing in Cavani everytime hence Cavani struggles to adapt to a more team orientated style.

Think he needs to be the star to be effective, dosnt look like someone whos comfortable contributing to a teams style, working with a strike partner or even dropping deep or playing wider, which is why i think any team that pays anything close to his buyout clause has been had over a barrel.

Lolz this thread has just recently been take over by the demented of the forum. Now all CF's are overrated and Cavani is not one of the most dangerous players around..

Well, someone explain to Mourinho he is getting robbed. As well as Mancini, and Ancelotti.
